As a senior, I have AARP home owners through The Hartford. When I purchased my FF camera, 24-70 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8 lenses, I had a rider added for full replacement coverage for about $100. Per yr approx.

Check your home insurance for coverage.
Your response assumes the OP has a home owner's policy. Dumb.

Good for you. But my post stands as written because it is the truth.

And your point is...what?
I am shocked how many Richard Craniums there are on this supposedly friendly information site.
My point is that you read the posts instead on making inane comments. This was what he was replying to, that you had said... "

assumes the OP has a home owner's policy. Dumb." only one to look dumb here is you...

Wait a minute you idiot. My original post was directed to Pixel Stan. Now whose the real dummy? Look in the mirror and you will see him staring right back at you. :-P

Who said it is "supposedly friendly"? You have been sadly misinformed.

Well - it s not dumb, but it does assume that. If anyone knows of other ways of insuring photo equipment it would be interesting to hear. In Florida most of us have insurance through the state-backed "Citizen's" Insurance, and they offer no bells and whistles such as personal property riders.

DITTO! BTW, who is Richard Cranium?
People would do well to remember and apply the advice that I believe it was Thumper's mother gave to Thumper in "Bambi" -- "If you can't say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all!"
Also remember, this is supposed to be a forum for asking and answering photography questions by providing "friendly information" and not a forum for venting your spleen -- everyone should play nice.
And, BTW as for the "dumb" comment, anyone who has a mortgage on their home is required to have homeowner's insurance as one of the lender's requirements, so what was so "dumb" about the assumption that the person asking the question and those providing "friendly" answers have H/O's insurance? Besides, if you're talking about separate personal property policies like the USAA policy I have, you don't have to have H/O's insurance because it's not a rider but a separate policy.
Again, as Rodney King asked, "Can't we all just get along?"
[quote=louparker]DITTO! BTW, who is Richard Cranium?
Richard, shortened version "Dick", Cranium, meaning "Brain", translation, dick brain. my best assumption.
