Wonderful story. More car stuff I never knew. Thanks for sharing.
Cool video. I plan to be at my sister's place on the lake in Cicero, IN. It's just NE of Indianapolis.
Video also shows totality at my in-laws by Eaton, OH. I'll alert them. Thanks for the tip!
When I went to Indiana for a partial (80%) eclipse in 2017, I set up a second camera on a tripod for a simple landscape shot of the lake off of the deck, set exposure manually for full sun, then took a shot every 15 mins during the event. Observing the eclipse, it didn't seem to get all that dark, but the photo series told a different story.
I learned to drive on a new, green one of these... not nearly as good-looking though.
Thanks for the memory rekindle.
For what it's worth, I've been using Google Photos as a screensaver and casting it to the second TV in the living room from my laptop. I can pick a single directory (automotive, Christmas, races, etc) which includes subdirectories, or pick My Photos to display all (40,000+). I set screensaver to start in one minute. The TV is a 44 inch 8K Samsung with incredible clarity.
Depending on the occasion, I can run a TV show on the big TV while running a themed slideshow on the other.
Elon Musk's Boring Company got permission to use their tunnels below the Las Vegas Convention Center for the SEMA show last November. They had stations at the South, Central, and West Halls to shuttle people between them for free. Those are large halls and quite the walk between them, so this was rather handy.
Each station has an escalator that goes down about 40 feet to the waiting Teslas and their drivers. Neither automated driving nor collision avoidance systems were allowed to operate. The ride is only a few minutes between any of the halls. The walk is much longer, esp. when the show is open and crowded.
On October 20, 2021, the Clark County Commissioners unanimously approved the full Vegas Loop, a 29-mile tunnel network connecting 51 stations throughout the resort corridor and beyond, including downtown, the airport, and stadium.
Photos were hand-held, taken quickly, and, yes, the tunnels continuously change colors during the ride.
Thanks, DJphoto. Nature is truly amazing...
This guy is serious! Well done.
Nervous2, these are all looking east, with a sort-of east/west road for reference.
It was a simple idea, but took a year...
Yard art... with a frame! Nice
Well done! I can relate, it took me a year to redo mine... retirement pace.
Ha-ha... the weeds are winning. Thanks for the chuckle.
Sorry, missed a step...
My father-in-law used this truck to deliver steel in the 1950-60s, on his farm in the 1970-80s, and as "yard art" ever since he retired it in the 1990s. Nature is slowly reclaiming it.
