Elon Musk's Boring Company got permission to use their tunnels below the Las Vegas Convention Center for the SEMA show last November. They had stations at the South, Central, and West Halls to shuttle people between them for free. Those are large halls and quite the walk between them, so this was rather handy.
Each station has an escalator that goes down about 40 feet to the waiting Teslas and their drivers. Neither automated driving nor collision avoidance systems were allowed to operate. The ride is only a few minutes between any of the halls. The walk is much longer, esp. when the show is open and crowded.
On October 20, 2021, the Clark County Commissioners unanimously approved the full Vegas Loop, a 29-mile tunnel network connecting 51 stations throughout the resort corridor and beyond, including downtown, the airport, and stadium.
Photos were hand-held, taken quickly, and, yes, the tunnels continuously change colors during the ride.
Thanks for this interesting and informative post!
Did not know about that. Thanks.
