Truth is some 3rd party lenses on the ef mount are superior than the Canon version, I can think of a few. I understand why canon is reluctant to allow, at least until they make some money on their development. Would I buy a 70 200 2.8 from a 3rd party over my RF, absolutely 💯 noooo, but many others would.
Last year I decided to leave all my gear at home and just took my sx50hs to key west. Best decision I made all year.
Just saying
You will buy what you feel you need for the image you want. Maybe a better question is
Is there a lens that will do it all? ie 18-400
Phone pic Samsumg S9+, convenience is probably the main reason I like it. Didn't carry my FF Dslr and assortment of lenses and made easier traveling on my 1 week vacation
Now that Canon has stopped servicing this camera as of January 2nd 2019, where does one go for service?.
Just went to CPS got a service code but they can't help
Any help is greatly appreciated
Thank you

Wow Jim Bob, you hurt my feelings
I'd kick your *** if you were in front of me. Just kidding old man ,you know it all I'm sure. Happy new year
Dock is not for making it focus any better, it is used for software updates and focus parameters. I have it and use it on my favorite lens 120-300 2.8 S. And I also have the Canon 300 2.8
The 7d mkii is an excellent all around camera, it does everything pretty well. A great choice to back up your 5d mkiii. Another plus is is its similarities between the 2. You'll never regret the added option to shoot sports and BIF.
For the prize I'd get it if I was you. I have both cameras and I paid 1799 when it first came out and don't regret it at all
Don't know what lens you're using. But if you have a 2.8 you won't need the flash for indoor basketball. I'm willing to bet you that shooting manual say 500 shutter 2.8 aperture and iso at 6400 you'll do okay with manageable noise. Flash is not allowed anywhere I shoot basketball
You'll be more than satisfied
You may want to bring a faster lens for nights
Listen to the hoggers, I asked same question few years back. I paid attention and got the 5d mkiii. One of the hoggers used his 6d to test focus with BIF, 6d failed miserably. I shoot mostly sports and the 5d works flawlessly. Auto focus is superior. As others already said 7d mkii works right along my 5d and performs admirably. Iso performance is not bad on 7d mkii although not as good as the full frame 5d. I personally use the 7d more than the 5d because of the FPS. Up to 6400 iso images clean up pretty good too.
Listen to the hoggers, they know what they're talking about
Wow, that's all I can say. Awesome, thanks for sharing and inspiring me
