I've been waiting for this to be on sale so today is it I'm going to pull the trigger. Was only going to buy the body only but they also have it matched with the 18-135 STM lens, my question has anyone used this lens and what is your thought on it.. Thanks

I have that lens on a T6S and it is fantastic. Tack sharp. Have also used it on a 70D with the same result. Hightly recommend it.

The 7D2 is a very versatile body as you already know - you'll have a lot of fun with it. Lens wise, I don't have a feedback as I have not used that lens.

I've never shot any video, but if by chance you plan to, it's my understanding that STM lenses are the way to go. From everything I have heard the 18-135 is a fine lens.
You will love the 7DII, but be prepared to spend some time learning the ins and outs of the autofocus in order to get the best out of it. There are 5 screens in the menu devoted to settings. Search canon.com for the EOS 7D Mk II AF-Setting Guidebook. It is a 51 page pdf devoted solely to the autofocus system. Very helpful.
Have fun!

I have this camera and the 18-135 and got the 100-400L MKII at the same time. I'm posting a few that I took with the 18-135. Please remember that I am still learning with all of this.
18-135 STM is my walkaround lens. It creates very good images, is not too heavy and has a very useful zoom range.

I purchased this exact combination when the 7DII launched. The 18-135 STM lens is great. The range on it is fantastic and it is incredibly quiet when focusing. For video work and also shooting in a variety of spaces, this lens will not disappoint you.
Thanks LFingar, other than the focusing are there any other learning curves to the 7D2 I've had other folks say its a difficult camera to learn.
Pic's look good will probably get it

Wow, $1299 body only at B&H. That's terrific. I paided $1499 for mine in June.

I've had a T3i and a 70D. I currently have a 6D in addition to the 7DII. Aside from the autofocus I don't consider the 7DII any harder to learn then any of my other Canons. The autofocus itself is not really that hard to learn. Leave it in it's basic settings and it is not much different then the others. Because it has so many optional settings it takes a good bit of practice and reading to learn how to tweak it to get the most out of the system. Anyone who has used a 1Dx or 5DIII would probably have an easier time, but moving up from a camera with a more basic autofocus is going to require a bit more effort. The camera is not hard to learn. It just will take some time and practice to understand what it is really capable of. Don't let anyone tell you that you need to be afraid of the 7DII. I find it to be quite user friendly.
Again thanks, I also have T3i and 6d love them both now just waiting for the brown truck....bill

Bill, on Auto, it probably shoots better than most cameras on Auto.
Like all cameras it comes set up on its presets and on any mode you can shoot whatever you want with very good results.
You can experiment with the nuances of the AF system at your leisure or never even mess with it, as it comes set up to handle most shooting, including action, right out of the box.
And don't forget you can always call Canon Tech with anything you have questions on over what any particular mode is best for. It's not necessary for us to re-invent every wheel, that's why Canon tech is there!! Great camera, good luck with it!! ;-)
