Thanks again for your comments and think you are all probably right.I had a pint of Brains last night and a few conversations with camera club members with mixed responses.I am glad to report this does not appear to happen very often.I cannot really blame Sigma because the lens is 3yrs old and the camera less than 1yr old so obviously there is a difference there.I think the point I am making is the firmware is said to be free with no mention of cost of installing.Anyway Morning Star you have hit the nail on the head.I do not know much about computer wizardry and certainly how it is applied to cameras and photography.

Many thanks to all who replied but to be honest I havnt got a clew.Since this post I have contacted Sigma who state elsewhere on their site that this firmware is free but when I confronted them they asked to return the lens where it would be updated for free, however, it appears this is only if the lens is under guarantee.Since the lens is approx 3 yrs old I do not have the invoice so no proof of purchase.I have now advised them on part of their website they indicate a free fix but make no stipulation about age.I am now working on the tack that the lens was bought as a Canon fit but in actual fact does not fit the criteria of Canon fitting. My next port of call is Trading Standards (which in the UK is the official organisation where complaints against incorrect descriptions can be made).Does this make sense or am I expecting too much?Any comments on this?

I have recently encountered a problem where my Sigma 18-250 lens will not operate with my Canon760D with live view.I am also having difficulties with the camera switching on and sometimes freezing ie shutter will not fire.I have found out Sigma are aware of this problem exists and are issuing firmware to deal with it(ie liveview).Excuse my lack of knowledge but what is firmware and how does it operate to solve this problem,I am sure the answer is going to be answered by someone out there

Hi Bob..Funny I should read your problem today because I have had an identical experience with my Canon 760D.The problem is intermittent but has been happening now for two months so I have returned the body, battery and charger to the retailer. The camera was purchased only 6 months ago.The annoying thing is it has cost me £12 (approx US dollars $18) postage because I felt it expedient to insure contents.Hope you resolve the problem.

I find trying to put together a audio visual show difficult to do.I have downloaded Windows Movie Maker (which is free)but still having problems with the fade ins. Can anyone suggest any other software, preferably free,to do the job of stringing together gathering of images, fades and adding music ? I have Windows 8 complete with Elements 10 & 12.

Hi Johneccles I read your post with interest because I vaguely remembered subsrcibing to this some time ago.Sure I had a account but when I opened it I came across the problem.I never used it because I could not see how to add my photos and guess what I still cannot see how to do it.Is it easy? From what you say I would like to try it.

Thanks Rongongno but I realise the flash would not cover the wide range of this lens and would use probably with my Canon 35-135.I will endeavour to contact Neewer.

I have purchased a new Canon 760D or as its known in the States as a RebelT6S.I have, after seeking advice from several fellow hoggers, also purchased a Canon 10-18 wide angle.I need to purchase a Flashgun which will have TTL .Having looked at several I have narrowed my search to a Neewer VK750 II.In the compatibility list it does not include the Canon camera I have bought. My query is will this flashgun work with my camera?Any advice would be appreciated

Hi Bloke.. What a small world..my father in law sang in the Barry Male Voice Choir but he died quite a while ago.The biggest musical event was when I was in the RAF and the Squadron had its Colours presented to it.The Queen was supposed to have done the honours but it ended up with the Air Chief Marshall doing the honours.I will never forget this ceremony because our parade was led by the RAF Central Band in full regalia (leopard skins the lot). They were bigger than the Squadron.I am trying to find your HDR images in the forum but not sure I know what I am doing.Anyway thanks for your input.

Thanks amfoto1 for a truly comprehensive list of what to consider and, along with other comments, have decided to buy the 10-18 Canon lens.I have a Canon 28-135 and a Sigma 18-250 so between the three lenses should be able to capture most of what I want. Thanks also to Crwiwy for some lovely shots.Your name suggests a bit of Welsh somewhere!!!

Many thanks all who replied.I followed your advice Linda and run through the links so it looks as if I will get it. I was interested with the comments of a refurb and I will check with Canon if they do refurb lens in the UK although the new price here is around £175 or around $255 which for a Canon seems reasonable.
