Hi stephen s,

I suggest using the Spot Healing Brush Tool. I'd do as follows:
*Press Ctrl J (cmd on MAC) to duplicate the layer
*Select the Spot Healing Brush Tool
*Paint over the area in question making certain Layer1 is selected
*Press Ctrl Z if you don't like the "fix" applied to the pic
*You could also use the Healing Brush Tool if you want to select the area of the photo you want to clone (via the Alt key) into the offensive area

Hi papajoe60,

Below is a website that lists the flash voltages for older flashes. You may be able to find the information you need there. Good luck!

Hi Buddy Bob,

Given the information you shared I suggest you charge a reasonable rate for your work. Does $25.00 per hour sound reasonable? It does to me when I just paid $85.00 per hour for a plumber to make a repair in my home.

Iusually charge for my photography and I don't consider myself a professional; just someone who uses pictures to illustrate articles for trade magazines and books. Like I think you mentioned, I'm on a limited income and photography/writing helps balance the books at the end of the month.

For the record my father was in supply in the Philipines in WWII, I was in the infantry in Vietnam, and my son was a medic in the Gulf so we are vets as well and not looking for a hand out nor do we want anything free from anyone. I suggest you charge him a reasonable rate AND verbally thank him for his father's service. Take care & ...

Hi mlkddk,

My wife and I use a D200 & a D300 for much of our day-to-day photography but decided we wanted a Nikon that would shoot HD video and (more importantly) had a mic jack so we could use our radio-operated lavalier mic system. The clincher for us was the articulated LCD on the D5100 similar to our old CoolPix 8700. With it we can take low-to-the-ground shots/video and not have to bend over as far. For me that was important as I slide into the 70'ish age group. What we had to give up to get the articulated LCD would be important if we didn't already have a couple of great cameras for still shots. We had to give up a bunch of buttons that "set things" like focus mode, shutter release mode, ISO, etc. We hope Nikon puts an articulated LCD on the next model of the D7000 because that would have been (will be) our first choice if it had that feature. By the way, we used the D5100 on a mother's-day shoot yesterday and are very happy with the picture quality. Also, we did figure out some "work arounds" to help compensate for the loss of the outside buttons but really did miss them after using the older Nikons with those features for a number of years.

Good luck with your search, both cameras produce excellent quality images. We've tested them both. Let us know what you decide and why you made the decision to did. Take care & ...

Hi Paul,

I think Photo Shop Elements (9 or 10) is a great program and often use it instead of CS5. PSE has a quick or guided feature for editing that can be great for a beginner. Also, I discovered a gentleman named Rick Petersen who offer free PSE training on his website and via weekly e-mails. His website is www.essential-photoshop-elements.com. I recommend it; Rick has an easy way of training without making the subject intimidating. Take care & ...

Hi superstructure5,

I shoot Nikon rather than Canon and own 3 Tamron lenses and about a dozen Nikon. None of my Tamron lenses are zoom; they are all primes. The Tamrons shoot good enough pictures for the type of work I do but I notice they are noisier when focusing than the Nikon lenses (Nikon is almost totally silent while the Tamron are not). I also have one Sigma lens and it's performance is very similar to the Tamron, a little noisier when focusing.

Regarding which brand to purchase: You need to decide how bad you need a particular lens, what you can afford and what you plan to use the pictures for. I use mine to illustrate magazine articles so the pix published are never more than 11" x 14" (give or take) and most of them are never bigger than 4" x 6" (give or take). Good luck with your lens search and let us know what you decide (and why). Take care & ...

Hi judster43,

I have a range of Nikon cameras for my regular photography but my grab-and-run camera is an old Fuji Finepix HS10 (newer models are now available). It is called a "super-zoom bridge P&S camera" and shoots from 28mm to around 700mm - I really like the manual zoom over the push-the-button zoom. It operates on standard batteries so I can stop at any grocery store to buy more batteries if I run out and I find that helpful. It has both manual and automatic functions. You may find one of super-zooms something you may want to consider.

Hi jprib,

You've already gotten some great answers. Your photography sounds like mine, semi-pro and means you probably have many photos to keep track of. Lightroom is really worth the investment AND it's a good editing program as well. I use it to edit about 80% of my pix with Photoshop for the other 20%. Good luck with your search.
