Hey All !!
I'm trying to get info on using my Unomat BC32T flash with my Nikon D80.
It worked once but then my brother-in-law did something (changed a setting or something) and I can't seem to use it any longer. Any pointers
Tks

Tell your brother-in-law to keep his hands off your camera.

Can't help you any more than that, sorry.

is the flash made for digital or is it a film camera flash? if it is a film camera flash DO NOT RISK FRYING THE GUTS OF YOUR DSLR OUT. film flashes have different amps? voltage? electric thingees? (sorry not an electrical guy) then what is required for dslrs. if you dont know go to unomat (never heard of them) website. FYI you can get at keh.com a used nikon digital flash for your d80 that will allow full d-ttl for your camera. you can find sb25's and sb-28's for under a hundred bucks.

I think your camera is rated up to 6v for triggering the hot shoe flash. Yes you can (and may have) fried something if your flash uses a much higher voltage.

Also, check to see if there is a menu option on your camera to disable the hot shoe; check your manual. Hopefully that is the problem.

Hi papajoe60,

Below is a website that lists the flash voltages for older flashes. You may be able to find the information you need there. Good luck!

Does the flash 'work' the way it is, now? I mean, does pressing the button on the back, make it flash? Does it work on a different camera? Have you tried a different flash that you KNOW does work with the camera that's giving you problems? Could the contacts be dirty?

Good luck!
