D800 will not tether with PC.

WIN 7 64 with latest Camera Control Pro 2 will not tether, nor will it work with my nice iPod App DSLR Camera Remote, by OnOne.

I just hooked a D800 to a Macbook Air 11" model 2 with Lion and the FREE SOFTWARE Sofortbild works. Excuse my French WTF!

$200 of Nikon software is junk as is OnOne's $20 iPod and $50 iPad refuse-ware. Nikon CP2 is supposed to work, it's in the brochure.

This is enough to make me fully move to Mac!

How is everyone else doing?

I need tether, I use it a lot with my D7000 and had great plans to tether and add a HDMI monitor to my studio work.

I read some Pros discussing this in some forum and it sounded complicated.

I remember about a month or so ago, you got "ControlMyNikon", maybe they will offer an upgrade to handle the D800 soon. Have you checked with them? My copy is doing well with my D5100.

I hope so. I am sure great minds are hard at work. Nikon does not make it easy.

Tether is so much fun and so very useful. Of course we all expect our new gadgets to work together.

I finally got a good B&W print out of my Canon Pro 1 with a D800 image.

If anyone is interested I did post here, http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-40310-1.html

Nothing great, but the print came out very nice. I have hope. Now I need a better image...

It's not the software, it's the camera - junk -just send it to me! ;)
Sofortbild is a fantastic program for the price.

Good Luck.

How do we say? 'The check is in the mail!'

I believe I read that Nikons Control Pro 2 will tether the D800 but needs a download to do so and that the needed download was forthcoming.

Not here yet despite Nikon's obfuscation.

It would help if Nikon was a little more straightforward.

The Japanese love denial.

Leave it to MT to ride in on the white horse! Cool.
I looked at your B&W, Randy. I like it! It's very striking!

If you are using the front USB port try plugging into a rear USB port on the computer. For some reason the front ports do not work with all devices.

I am using laptops.

The ports have always worked with everything else, including a D7000.

It is a Nikon issue. Many pro's are complaining.

Thanks, I know some desktops are crippled. Both my laptops are top of the line. Any line.

Thanks again!

Randy,
I am a Canon user so my experience with it is nill. Contact the support team and see if you can get help from them. I cannot believe you are the only one to have this problem. I can actually support the move to MAC though

Thanks George,

I am not the only one squawking, but there is very little out there by actual users.

I MAY contact support, but I hate to. I haven't needed support for anything computer for at least 10 years. I am stubborn!

Most likely in July when the new Macs come out I will get a new mini. Then I can let my PC laptop die in peace. I do use WIN 7 all the time and enjoy all the software (that works, Nikon) not available on a Mac.
