Very nice! I post from FlickrĀ®, too, and usually select the 800x533 size.

Interesting. I'll try different sizes.

Look back at your shooting history. Do you use the short focal lengths or the longer (nearer 200mm) lengths the most.

You should look at the Nikon 28-120 (that could be a 24-120) f/4 lens. This is a great lens with no where near the weight of the 70-120. You give up one stop but that is not usually a problem. Coupled with a 1.4x tele extender gives you even more overall coverage.

Something to think about.

Cannot use Nikon TC's on 24-120 lens

Thank you, everyone, for your interest, input and time. My focus on a 2.8 was to use TC's for more reach, effectively carrying more reach with nothing more to tote than a small TC. I've too many lenses in my bag as it is, with more still in the cabinet. Trying to pare down the inventory. I do use wides and ultra-wides mostly for landscapes, waterfalls, etc, but also reach out now and then in other situations. I've found that many times as I await a better sun angle or some movement of clouds, there are other things happening around. Birds or other wildlife. Shooting something blooming and wanting to melt the background away, shoot a portrait shot of my wife or one of my daughters, so on and so forth. I always found the old Ai 300 2.8 useful and fun, though a beast to carry. I no longer desire to tote that load and fiddle with manual focus 100% of the time. Did a bunch of years with a Nikkormat and an F3 and back then it was automatic to me. I've been spoiled now with really good AF lenses and zooms.
Again, thank you all. And I'm no closer to making up my mind now than I was before.
Thank you, everyone, for your interest, input and ... (show quote)

TC's work on the 300 f4.

I am beginning to understand why this country's politics are so messed up these days - if something so simple as a lens can become so complicated on a forum like this!

Incredible, isn't it?

At f/2.8, the shutter speed was 1/8,000. That's enough to stop something...maybe I should try my hummingbirds...hmmm. I need to focus on watching more tutorials and playing with different tools on the editing software instead of reading novels or watching mind-numbing TV sitcoms.

It looks like focus is the issue. Sharp fence?

Hi All,

I have a lot of slides that I want to convert to digital images. I'm turning to you friends for recommendations as there are so many places that offer this service. You can understand that I'm nervous about shipping irreplaceable slides off to an unknown company. I'd like to do it as reasonably as possible, but of course reputation and quality are primo.

Thanks in advance!

I love the Nikon Coolscan 5000. That with a slide feeder (separate) will do great with Viewscan software. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikon-Super-Coolscan-5000-ED-Film-Scanner-4000-dpi-LS-LATE-PRODUCTION-model-/302187504212?hash=item465bc76254:g:zeMAAOSwcUBYT1TG

We were coming home from the store and noticed this guy in a tree near our front yard. It is a dreary day, but I ran in and got the camera and got a couple of shots before he flew away.
