I think you probably mean 70-200. In any case, yes you can use a FX lens on a DX body.

just my .02 but your almost always more likely to get the best optics with full frame lenses regardless as to what camera body you attach. As they say a great lens on a lesser body will always give better result than a great body with a cheap lens. The upside, if you always buy the best full frame lens you can afford you will already have great glass when you do upgrade the body.

Like I said, just my .02

If this is an older lens, make sure the camera accepts it. The problem are: electrical contacts and in some lenses a mechanical pin that prevents coupling.

Otherwise you normally can. The worse that can happen is that you lose the auto-focus.

Caveat: The camera will use only the center of lens and create a magnifying factor of 1.5.

Meaning the lens becomes a 105~300. That is quite a bit of difference. Can she live with it?

FX lens on a DX body?

If this is 'can she live with that' that surprises you, the zoom becomes quite powerful and there is a need to step back quite a bit when there a 'wider capture' is needed. ... The angle will still be very narrow and the perspective different from the original value...

Nah,let's over analyze it in lieu of keeping it simple.

It should work fine. The FX lens will throw an image larger than the sensor, so there will no vignetting, as there would be with a DX lens on an FX sensored body.

So, FX lens on a DX body...OK
But a DX Lens on a FX body....Not a good idea

It was released in 2012, and there is no magnification. It reduces the angle of view to be similar to a lens that is 1.5x longer in focal length. But it is still a 70-200 F4. If you want an increase in magnification, you'd need to use a tele extender.

I would have thought you understood that.
