What type of photography? Rangefinder magazine offers contests all the time in different categories for both professional and armatures. Also look locally for photo clubs, county and state fairs, governor arts contests and other local community contests.

What kind of camera do you use? A very popular one is IPPA for iPhones. Otherwise I would google it and I'm sure you'll get lots of helpful hits.

My experience is an armature is a rotation coil in either an electric motor or generator

In an engine this is known as a crankshaft. In a motor it is known and a rotating spindle. Motors run on electricity, engines run on fossil fuel.

I hope you are not 15 years old, because this site is restricted to 18 and older. If you are asking on behalf of a 15 year old, it would depend on that person's interests. I should think they might be more interested in social matters than anything else but who knows. That person could be interested in sports, wildlife, portraiture, events, models, still life, macro, special effects, video, head shots, graduation, celebrity, auto, landscape, fire, war, politics, etc.
