I like the program a lot and use it for single images also. You can do some tonemaping on single images that make the pop.

Got bored today with this lousy grey weather. Think I might as well have done nothing! What do you think?

This is what HDR is for. It brings out subtle shadows and adds depth to images. Well done!

Good Morning fellows. This is Tea8s' contest. Stop all the blathering and either submit the way she said or don't. No comment needed. Sorry, love you all, but knock it off.

1080p video is a very wide 2mp image. Ok for facebook, but not much else.

All that is true but I have had success in resizing and resampling the image in Photoshop Elements

Fantastic! I would hang that Giraffe on the wall and stare at it all day long.

Most cameras can shoot video at about 30FPS. You can download Picassa from GOOGLE for free and use it to import files from the camera (I also use it as my organizer. But here is the real beauty! As you view the video you can pause it and take a jpeg snapshot then save it. Great for sports and fireworks. Much cheaper than a new camera!

Finally got to the ranch where a breeder raises these beautiful animals. He and his wife were wonderful to my and my photo mates and took us into the pasture in a truck so we could get up close and personal. A fellow hog knew these people and helped connect with them. Just one more reason to love this forum

Dario got a little close!

Well I can tell you from a recent personal experience that I added all my camera equipment to my valuable personal property rider on my home owners insurance. If you look closely at your home owners or renters insurance the things that get stolen are often not covered! Yes it is a pain to add and delete items from the list but not as painful as not having coverage. I recently had all my gear stolen while on travel in Europe. I had purchased a new lens for the trip and did not add it to the policy. I was reimbursed the full price for everything except the new lens. The insurance only cost about $35 per year for about $3,000 worth of equipment.

Recently purchased a Tamron 18-270 f3.5 / 6.3. Read a lot of reviews that were very mixed but decided to try it anyway and am very glad I did. On a recent trip to Panama I carried 2 lenses an 11-18 and a 70-300 which left a real gap. Spent the day changing lenses and was not happy with coverage. This lens fits most of my needs for travel and bird photography and is an excellent lens for use with my Sony A77. Auto focus is extremely fast and sharp you hardly notice it moving. Purchased from Adorama where I always get great service and reasonable prices. Here is an example image.

The best way to learn how to use your new gear is to use it. If you have the time (ha ha) find a photo club near you. All (or at least most)of us with a camera love to share what we know with other like minded people. And don't forget about youtube there is a lot of very useful information on there. Welcome here.

There is mention of photogrphers the shoot hundreds of photos a week. After they spend too much of their lives at the computer, what do they do with all of them.
I've been shoot ing for more than 50 years, and lately find myself asking what am I going to do with this picture I'm about to take.
I already have thousands of slides and in my computer.
I use the delete button! I have a 3 step approach. A first review where I delete the ones that don't make me want to see them again. A 30 day delete if the image still does not catch my attention I delete it. A one year review where I repeat the 30 day procedure. At this point I have about 2 or 3 for every one hundred that I started with. I organize my images by date and location such as 1-2-2014 Panama. Just another way to do it

I am an elderly gent and my Nikon D7000 which I love is getting a tad heavy with a long lens. I am vaguely thinking perhaps I ought to go to a bridge.
It has to have a 50x reach, be capable of raw and not too worried about price.
Any suggestions and will I lose much in quality?
I have a tripod and a monopod but they are not practical at air shows which is my favourite.

Look at the Fujifilm lineup I have 2 a S100FS and a HS20EXR here is a link to the HS50EXR they are great cameras very light and excellent image quality also great video here is a link http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital_cameras/s/finepix_hs50exr
