Looking through some of last summer's work and found this. Thought I'd see if anyone else like is.

Shot in AP, 1/250, f/16, 135mm ISO=100

Thanks in advance for critiques, comments, suggestions.

I wasn't sure where to put this, but here goes....

I'd been considering purchasing a Sigma 150 mm macro lens, but saw more than a handful of negative reviews on Amazon. After that, I broadened my search and ran into a 180 mm f3.5 Sigma macro for 799 USD. The only problem is that Amazon is the only place I've seen this lens; everywhere else the Sigma 180 macro is listed as an f2.8 at 1699 USD. Does anyone have any experience with this/these lens/lenses? Thr Amazon picture of the lens very clearly shows that it is an f3.5.
I wasn't sure where to put this, but here goes....... (show quote)

The Sigma 180mm f/3.5 has been replaced by the f/2.8 model. The only way to get one of the 3.5's is to buy used. I have this lens, Canon mount, and I love it. When I bought I compared it to the Tamron 180. The fact I bought Sigma tell the rest of the story.

Thanks ebrunner and sailorsmom for looking. I have been trying to research and not getting anywhere. Luckily I have the photos to prove it exists. :-)

or at least I think it is. Found this hiking at Hocking Hills State Park. I have never seen anything like this so I am hoping one of my fellow Hoggers can come up with an ID.

How old are the 80-400 and 120-400 models?

From what I could find the 80-400 was introduced 2004 the 120-400 in 2009.

Contacted Sigma via phone and was told that they no longer have parts for the 80-400 Lens. Also was told they no longer service the 120-400 for the same reason. BUT, they told me that the 150-500 was heavily discounted at B&H and Adorama. I am now the proud owner of the 150-500 which seems to be a better lens than the 80-400. Also at B&H free 2 day shipping.

On a stroll through the park near my house I spotted this and could not resist. Mainly because I am testing out a new lens.

And a little help with the on-camera flash. Shot with a D5100 and 18-140 lens.

As Traveler and MT pointed out, the repair facility is in Ronkonkama. I have been there and had adjustments made at not charge. And, I was able to wait the 15-20 minutes they needed to do the work.
They are extremely nice to deal with.

Thanks for the input. Good to know. I have heard both good and bad about Sigma customer support and service.

Of course they will. How old is the lens? Are you sure its not still under warranty? Sigma's warranty is either 3 or 4 years versus Canon's 1 year.

I wish it were under warranty. I bought it used about 5 years ago from KEH.

Thanks Traveler, MT. Will they give an estimate before starting repair?

I have a Sigma 80-400 Canon mount lens that is in need of repair. The aperture does not stop down. Tested it on three bodies with the same result. Looking for repair shop recommendations. Thanks.
