Has anyone bought or used C F that are refurbished, was looking on e bay and saw some 32 g b at a real cheap price. Thought about buying one

I've purchased SanDisk refurbs, but directly from the SanDisk Outlet. Usually these are either overstock or returned and tested to perform as new. No telling where the e bay cards come from or whether they are genuine or fakes.

I have an Olympus epl5 and lenses ...pro 14-40...40-150 4 to 5.6....and prime 20 f 1.7...We will on a river cruise this June and I want to take pictures but keep up with the group and listen to the tour guide as she shares information on land....I don't want to worry about settings too....so...should I use the intelligent auto or aperature priority with auto ISO or program mode....I am not a beginner but if you know this camera, you must go into a menu to change settings slowing things down a bit....

I am also considering upgrading to the omd- em10 mk 2...advice most welcome

Why not record the tour guide with a cassette recorder- you'll have all the details? Program is usually the best general setting with most cameras. Do you capture in RAW? That would give another "hedge" for any corrections needed.

I bought my 17-35mm f2.8 ID ED from a friend who had used it on a F4 Nikon. It works well for me on either a D300 or D810.

I'd love to print large wall photos but we live in a modest home where wall space is limited. Large prints would be out of proportion to the rest of the room. I have been considering a set up to run slideshows on our 52" Aquios mounted over the fireplace. It would be less expensive than prints and could show foo more images.

If you brought the background from black to a medium grey it would give you a bit of backlight and separation from the hair while still looking realistic, IMHO.

When we bought our "95 Eagle Talon AWD Turbo the Chrysler Dealer slipped one in on us- the price could "float" from the day of order until the day of manufacture. It added $575 to the cost of the vehicle. If I'd seen it I would have crossed it out of the contract. This was pure BS!The sale price should have been locked in when the contract was signed! And they wonder why we hate car dealers?

Thanks to all who welcomed me to the forum and provided suggestions for my tripod purchase. I did receive the Manfrotto 290 Light model that I ordered from Costco to try out. It doesn't seem too bad although it is a bit longer when collapsed (22 in.) than I would have preferred.

My new question is this; are all tripod heads interchangeable? The Manfrotto head just spins off of a single threaded shaft so I would expect any head, with the same size threads, should fit. I was reading some reviews on another site and it sounded like some other heads must attach differently because people were saying some heads don't work on some legs.

Thanks again in advance for your replies. There seem to a lot of friendly folks here at UHH!

Usually heads come with a 2 way adaptor: 1/4' threads on one side, 3/8" on the other. There may be an occasional odd size but those are the two most common ones. There is usually an allen set screw to lock the head to the tripod legs too.

Fellow Hoggers

For years I have utilized multiple portable hard drives to have all my photos backed up. A friend recently mentioned Carbonite, and I was wondering everyone's thoughts.

Thanks in advance

I believe Carbonite only backs up the drive in your computer, not external hard drives. CrashPlan is a program that would meet your needs.

The Df shutter button is threaded for a cable release.

You mention the ONLY DSLR from Nikon with this feature, because it is styled as a "legacy SLR".

Most of the sites that cater to rangefinder camera's carry "soft" release buttons, just like you are talking about.

www.rangefinderforums.com almost always has them in the classifieds. Also, the parent Steve Gandy site, www.cameraquest.com, lists them for sale. They are still popular among film shooters, who know the advantage. Generally called "soft release".

There is nothing to thread a soft release into on the shutter button of a Digital Nikon DSLR

I recently purchased Lightroom 6 outright...Just the download, no DVD. If I want to save the link and for some reason I need to reload it again, can the download link be safely moved to an exterior drive?

Yes, or a folder on your computer. It is compressed until you double click on it to expand the zip to the full file.
