We're on vacation in Pawleys Island and the shutter button on my Nikon P900 went missing. Does anyone know if I can get this camera to work without a shutter button or if there is a repair shop in the area?

Thank you in advance

What do you see when you look into that hole? Is there anything you can push that will make the camera work? If so, you can improvise a temporary button.

This is the perfect justification for getting a backup camera.

Do you have any access to a Yellow Pages or possibly computer access where you cou could check for a repair shop or even a camera store?

You'll probably need to go to Myrtle Beach or Charleston. But I'm skeptical anyone but Nikon would have a part like that.

Let us know what you find. I visit my brother there. He has a house on the beach.

You could use the Nikon ML-L3 Wireless Remote Controller if you have one till you can get it fixed.

Vello makes a remote shutter for about $35. If you have 2 pocket wizards you can do it that way. I would think that a camera store would have something to get you by. You could order something next day air from BnH.

Good point. A Best Buy should have a remote release on the shelf.

There is not a camera shop anywhere in the area for repairs. I also have not heard of one in Charleston area either.

Do you have the ML-L3 remote control? (See page 117 of your manual).
Or use a smart device to have your camera take the photo (page 60 of your manual).
(I hope you brought the manual with your... else go on-line:

Since it is only the button missing, I am curious if the eraser end of a pencil would trip the shutter?

A remote was going to be my suggestion. If you're close to a camera store, you can likely get one of them. Maybe a wireless one even?

The remote I mentioned is a wireless one. Only problem seems to be that you have to be in front of the camera to use it.
