I am a certified judge for the Chicago Area Camera Clubs. To be a judge you need to take a class and pass an exam. At most judging if asked by the club we will explain our scoring and what could have been done to the image to get a higher score. We have three judges scoring at the same time.

When did CACCA start doing this? I never heard of this criteria at CACCA and if this is new I know several members from our club that would like to get certified.

Is it me or my age, I am not a big user of Facebook but tend to look at it from time to time and people have a tendency to put the dumbest things on it such as having breakfast at, having lunch at, or having a glass of wine at, I do believe these people have no life or just need to tell everyone what they do on a a daily basis. Please tell me is it just me.

You are absolutely correct. But, it does help me as I do not have to call 300 friends every night to say good night.

I recently showed an old acquaintance my 'brag list' of my top pix on my fone, & he was impressed, & wants me to do a gig shooting him at a promo event for his jazz group.

Two hours, 100 exposures in that time, one time use.

He mentioned models will be there to help make best of shoot, for CD cover sleeve images.

He mentioned $150 since he is a student; but I revisited the whole thing. If there are models, someone must be paying them & I haven't seen the venue, & may need to bring speedlights, stands, a LumeCube or two…

What do you folks think about the fee he mentioned? I need the exposure, but also don't want negative precedent or negative P.R. if it's too low…

Thanks in advance, Eli

You have two situations here. The shoot and then the rights for him to use the photos. The shoot also consists of editing the pics. The cost for him to use the photos is based on number of reproductions ets. So for a CD cover if he is going to print 1000 covers, the cost is per cover. If he is going to use the photo(s) on a web site then that is another charge. All of this would be stated in the contract.

After a shoot yesterday I was going through my pictures and editing them and saving them to a separate file. Normally I would download everything to my computer first but failed to do this for this shoot. I managed to get 118 done and saved when my computer said that the SD card that I am using could not be read and it needed to be formatted. I had formatted it before the shoot and it worked fine until I had maybe 25 photos left to edit and now the card doesn't work. I tried my laptop and putting the card back in the camera with the same results. All three of my cameras have dual cards slots and I have never used the option of writing the images to both cards with any of the tens of thousands of photo I have taken, but from now on every photo I take will be written to both cards to eliminate this problem.
If you have a recommendation for some recovery software please put it in a comment below. The card stopped working on the image I most wanted and I am not a happy photographer. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

If it is a san disk card, they have a recovery card that you can download and try. I have used that in the past and they get good results. Sooooo...... I would try the card manufacturer to see what you can find.

For some reason when I turn on Pen Pressure setting, in Brush Settings, I get a warning triangle with a question mark in it. The warning states: "Control by Pen Pressure requires the use of a pressure-sensitive tablet. Now I have the Wacom Tablet Properties set to Photoshop and I have installed the latest Wacom tablet driver (6.6.37-3). I don't understand why I'm getting this warning. Help!

Did you try and contact Wacom for support?

If everyone keeps doing that, they will go to an annual subscription.

Someone should keep the photographers back out of harm’s way.

She is ok and released from the hospital the next day.

Why should someone do this? Oh unless you are not capable of watching out for yourself I guess. Or maybe trying to not assume responsibility for your own actions.

Does anyone know if and when Costco will sell Photoshop Elements 2020? I thought about this time of year they offered the new version for a slightly discounted price. I haven't been able to find it there.
Thanks, Lauretta

B&H photo has elements 2020 for 59.99 now along with Amazon.

I didn't see any FRAGILE stickers on the box. It could have contained a sweater. Still, throwing a package is never a good idea, if for no other reason than it looks bad. I thought it was ironic that he threw the box a few feet, but then he had to walk back again to get the package and leave the note.

The way companies pack things these days, it probably could have taken a fall from the top of the truck. I've received boxes that were seriously torn, but the fragile contents were fine.

Someone posted a video here of a delivery man throwing a large screen TV over a fence. He definitely knew what was in that box.

Obviously, speed is important to these companies, and I know the drivers are under pressure to get their route covered quickly. I always walk down the driveway to meet the driver at the truck. UPS never enters the driveway, but FedEx always does.

Jerry, according to all delivery companies, FRAGILE means throw it easy.

We took a family picture, about 15 people, on the steps but our son in law couldn't be there. Want to add a photo of him to the back of the group. I use Elements 18 as my editing software. Looked in guide and on line and couldn't find a tutorial. I don't think photomerge will work. I would think I should use layers. Can anyone lead to a good tutorial?

go to youtube and search. I would look for any youtube video by Colin Smith at Photoshop Cafe, or Jesus Ramirez at photoshop trainng channel. Either one of them should have one or possibly both might have something.
