I use xcopy with wild cards.

For example:

xcopy E:\photos\*.jpg F:\photos\*.jpg /e /d /y

To do raw, you would use whatever the raw extension is in place of the "jpg" above.

You can put this into a batch file to eliminate typing if you use it over and over. Once it is created, you just have to double click on the batch file.

You have to open a command prompt (DOS shell) and type or copy and paste the above into the window. To open a command prompt, go to the run/search bar and type in cmd.

That is a drop in the bucket compared to this lens I saw yesterday. If you had 2 million dollars, then I bet Leica might make another one?

Newer smart phones allow tethering or to be a Wi-Fi hot spot (I've used this feature in some hotels that don't have free Wi-Fi in the past). Depending on your phone company's data plan, this may be expensive if you exceed the monthly data usage.

No problem with my previous S20 Ultra (last week) or my new S23 Ultra. Maybe UHH has updated software that cannot be deciphered by older devices?

I have an R5, an old 430EX, the 580 EX II, and two different Yongnuo flashes that I used with my Canon 7D and 80D. I've only tried one of the Yongnuo flashes with the R5 to see if it worked (it did). Now I am curious if all the flashes work with the R5.

I got the DJI Osmo (can't remember the model number) gimbal a few years ago. I find I have to take my Samsung S20 out of the Otter Box shell to fit in the gimbal for best results. Then getting the connection between phone and gimbal is hit or miss at times. For zooming in/out, panning, and staying level it does what it says it will do - I only used it for video and rarely take it with me these last couple of years.

On another post several people indicate that they reformat their SD card after transferring files from camera to computer. Why? I just cut files from card and paste to computer folder using a USB card reader. I have never experienced any file corruption on my SD card. I don't reformat a hard disk after deleting and moving files so why do so after using a SD card?

I am wondering if these people are being extra cautious or if there is a valid reason this is beneficial?

I do the same thing as you. I occasionally format the card in the card reader or in the camera as a quick way to insure of a "clean" card. I've never had any issue with all the cameras and cards over 22 years of digital photography. Cards are so much cheaper today than they were in the beginning. Need a faster, bigger card? Buy one at the big box store for very little money. I remember when I bought a 256 MB (mega, not giga byte) for $100 way back when, thinking they aren't getting any cheaper or bigger. Was I ever wrong.

Just have your kids send you the image files.

This is the best solution to the image problem. Get the images sent to you so you can print better quality images.

You can also do a screen print (this should copy to your clipboard and then you can process it in PS or some other editing program) which is better than photographing your display.

I quit buying RRS brackets due to the high prices after my first 3 DSLR cameras. If there was a way for the bracket to be universal between each upgrade in cameras, then it would be more cost-effective. I've used Sunwayfoto for my last two camera upgrades for a fraction of the cost of a RRS L bracket ($50 versus $185). It's a machined piece of metal that is used once in a while but always stays on my cameras (just in case).

The initial planned trips were flying into Sante Fe, then a "circular" tour NE, N, NW then down to Albuquerque; flying back out of Sante Fe. Your reference to accommodations refers to Sante Fe itself or the surrounding areas?

When we went 20 years ago or so, we flew into Albuquerque and rented a car - it was a lot cheaper doing it this way but maybe it is not as bad today flying into Santa Fe itself. The drive to Santa Fe was only an hour. Do visit Sandia Peak via the tramway while in Albuquerque and the botanical garden/aquarium was worth the extra 2 hours before our flight back home. We went to Taos (it was okay), Bandolier (nice day excursion), Four Corners (not much there other to say "been there, done that, never again"), Chama which is one of the stops for the narrow gauge train and a quaint little town - really liked this area.

We went north to Colorado (the reason why we stopped at 4 corners), passed Shiprock monument and looked for a road to get nearer to it, then on to Mesa Verde, CO which was a great visit (we could see Shiprock from Mesa Verde which I think is around 30+ miles as the crow flies, driving is more than twice that distance). Spent the night in Durango, CO before heading back to Santa Fe. There are a lot of good Mexican restaurants in Santa Fe and order the level of heat you think you can tolerate - they love their hot peppers. Lots of shops in Santa Fe for artwork (some are quite high).

Have fun!

I saw this on YouTube last night during a discussion about lenses. I have heard similar comparisons about other things.

There are three considerations when buying a lens: Good, Cheap, Fast. You can have only two of those qualities in a lens. If it's Good and Fast, it won't be cheap. If it's Good and Cheap, it won't be Fast. Etc. What we have to do is look for the best compromise - unless money is no object.

That's true for anything made. I heard that expression for software projects 20 years ago or more. It's true for cars, houses, etc.

Also check to ensure you are not shooting RAW unintentionally.

That is what I thought too. I have the 80D and was disappointed in burst speed compared to the 7D I had previous. I changed the RAW setting to JPG and the camera became very capable of shooting burst speeds without slow buffering.
