I agree you can't miss along the scenic east coast, from Maine to Florida. I've hit some spots and plan to visit many more. For tastes of Maine, Cape Cod, Virginia, S. Carolina, Georgia, and (sorry) Florida, feel free to take a quick look at my website below. Happy trails to you (you have to be a certain age to remember that ditty). Tim

I love Italy, would you mind posting more (a lot more)?

I don't mean to hijack hdfilmnoir's post, but if you want more photos from Italy, there are a lot from several trips on my Google share site below. We love Italy, too, and I hope you enjoy the shots. Tim

From the paper tag, it looks like it may have been a new car, or at least recently purchased if used. Quite a fireball!

Hi. I am a non professional, casual photographer, who loves taking photographs. I just bought a new computer and need a program for editing my photos. I shoot with a Sony 10 iv. Since I don't shoot often, I feel there is no need for me to get a more advanced Photoshop program. Any advice on what I should get is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Tina

I began my photo editing with Capture One Express, which came free with my Sony camera. It had a bit of a learning curve, but is a good editor, and if you eventually get the PP bug, you can upgrade to the Pro version, which has greater capability (and cost).

If you want to start with a simple, intuitive editing program, the photo editor that comes with your computer does the basics and may be all you need.

I suggest cropping out the vertical branch on the left and removing the branch on the right. I don't think they add any real framing to the shot, but instead distract from the fox as the central focus. As others have recommended, I would also move the fox off center and denoise the background. Cute shot with nice color.

Attached are three photos taken while on a trip to Florida and Texas. Recommendations for improvement please.

On the first photo, I suggest getting rid of the 5 or 6 vertical branches to the left of the main branch the hawk is holding onto, especially the ones that intersect the bird. They are an unnecessary distraction and clutter the shot, IMHO. I would also remove the short vertical branch just to the right of the main branch. Is the picture slightly out of focus? If so, a tiny bit of sharpening of the bird's feathers might help. Overall a nice shot of the hawk, though.

Any word on whether Shutterfly is going to enable a direct transfer of share site photos to another site? Many of mine have captions that I would like to transfer with the photos.

Make sure you're not set on manual focus. Also, as mentioned, check if it is set for back-button focus, and be sure to use a fast enough shutter speed to compensate for any camera shake, especially with a telephoto lens.

I have used an a6000 for 7 years and have never had a problem with its autofocus. Its technology is a bit dated, but it still shoots exceptionally sharp images.

I've been with Costco Photo for a few years now and have had very few complaints on their work or quality. Most of my prints have been on metal and I have sold several. I also have a Photo Book being printed so I called Shutterfly to see how their books would compare and all I get is the "Political" type response that "Our books are much better and with the 51% discount, you can't go wrong".

Costco has an office here in the Phoenix area but they would NOT let me come in and see, for myself, how the books would compare. Obviously, I was not impressed with our discussion. I put a lot of time into the design and layout of the book and it looks as though I'm going to have to repeat all of my efforts, no matter who I end up going with.

If anyone has had previous dealings with Shutterfly, I would appreciate reading your response.

I have used Shutterfly for holiday cards, photo coasters, and about 15 photobooks over the years, mostly travel and weddings, with no problems at all. If you use the advance editing option, you have full flexibility in designing your photobooks, and I have been very pleased with the results.

The books are high quality, both in their construction and in the image quality of the printed photos. I highly recommend Shutterfly -- just be sure to use their frequent sales to get the best prices. Once you become a customer, you will get a constant flow of emails with discount offers.

In Windows 10, it's called Photos and does exactly as you describe.

The Microsoft Photos app no longer works by simply double-clicking on a photo. I think a recent Windows update may be the problem, since the app worked fine until a month or so ago. Now you have to right-click on a photo and select Edit. Not a big problem, but unfortunately this option does not let you easily move through a folder of pics by clicking on an arrow at the edge of a photo, because no arrow appears.

The OP specifically asked about apps for processing RAW files -- note the thread title: "Best & Easiest RAW Editing Processing." PhotoScape is entirely inappropriate for processing RAW files.

No, while the built-in photo software in Windows does not process RAW, PhotoScape X does. It is an excellent RAW editing tool, simple to use, and the price is right (free).

The photo software that comes in your Windows or Apple computer is very easy to use, and perhaps a good place to start if you are new to post-processing. Another easy and free program is PhotoScape X, which is more sophisticated and has many more features than the built-in ones, so you can make your editing as simple or as complex as you want. There are lots of YouTube videos that explain how to use it. PhotoScapeX (Free) can be used accurately with 3 or 4 clicks or you can REALLY get into serious editing. Here are a couple of sites for you to see if you are interested. Be sure to select Mac/or Windows. Get the free version (just below the "Pro" download) first (it never expires), and you can always upgrade. Also, please do yourself a favor and watch the following two short YouTube videos to see if you would be interested in training. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWC-SAuYOzw&t=325s Instruction and download at http://x.photoscape.org/

On the opening page of PhotoScape X, there is an icon at the top, just to the left of the word "Viewer". This will open a page of EVERY function that PhortoScape has. When you click on a specific process it will describe how to perform that function and open up a < 2-minute video, showing step-by-step how to perform that function.
PhotoScape X has a built-in Viewer, Editor, Cut-Out, Batch* (processing), Collage, Combine, Create GIF, Print, and (Many) Tools, such as *Batch - Collage, Crop, Resize, Color, Filter, Film, Light, Insert, Curves, Frames, etc.

PhotoScape X is easy to learn, has lots of features that cover virtually all editing needs, and is free (the "trial" can be used forever). You can make your editing as simple or as complex as you want.

I agree, PhotoScape is so intuitive. I got the Pro version for $40 and it is well worth it. It is very straight forward and easy to work in and great result quickly. Thumbs up as well to the Topaz Suite, I wouldn't be without it!

I also agree that PhotoScape X is easy to learn and has lots of features found in the more expensive programs. And it is free.

You can add features by buying the upgrade, but I've never needed to (the free "trial" lasts forever).
