After the last hurricane in Texas flooding my sons home. My 50-600 lens sat on a shelf with 3 feet of water below for two weeks.
Well fungus grew a city in that lens.
Sigma pitched a big story we want to help.
So I sent Lens in and they said oh man we will knock off 100$ on a new one.
Did not accept , the lens takes good images in spite of the fungus , weird but true.
I am just itching to get in that lens and clean it myself. Anybody know how to do this and what tools?
So far I can’t even get independent repair shops to do it. I just want someone with balls to do it and try to clean as much as they can. If it comes out bad it’s on me

Well I am back in the game.

Because I called in to a good, local computer repair shop earlier today. Took my iMac with me.

They told me that that particular iMac cannot have the RAM upgraded to 16GB but they could install a SSD. However, they looked up the Apple Photos app and said there were a number of complaints from others that it was freezing.

I was told to save my money, the iMac was perfectly good and to choose a photo editing application that supplied my needs.

My only outstanding query is whether all the relevant software programs, i.e. the photo editing apps, will run without any bother on 8GB.

So a bit more research into the RAM requirements of these software apps and then it's all systems go.

Once again, I couldn't have done this without all your help!

I have been having a frustrating problem which is really not reproducible but drives me nuts. Sometimes when I hit the shutter release button, nothing happens. the "?" does flash, but when I hit the ? spot nothing appears. I have the shutter release set to release, not focus. I have read and reread the annual and the longer Nikon-supplied reference manual as well as 2 third party manuals. Everything seems to be set correctly, although Nikon seemed to suggest that as long as the camera is in AF-C the focus won't lock, which isn't the case, since it definitely locks with BB focus when I release the BB.

I asked the same question on dpreview and someone suggested that AF-C is only set in the "I menu." Since I didn't remember how I set it up, I looked at the "i menu." It turns out that when I hit the button to bring up the menu, the initial image under auto focus mode shows the letter M. When you hit okay, the window changes and you see the choices from left to right of AF-A, AF-S, AF-C and MF. The AF-C is highlighted in yellow. When I hit the okay button it reverts to the initial "i menu." Is this something to be concerned about?

To be sure you understand, in custom settings I have a1 AF-C priority selection set as release, in f2 AE-L and AF-L is set as AF-ON, on c1 the shutter-release button AE-L is set to OFF.
