What I am trying to find out is the correct size on the long side. As I view my computer screen, the format says JPEG, resolution 300px/in. Scale on long edge 1500px. I have seen 2500 on the long edge for this use. Can you help me determine this?

Thanks,
Roman

My present gear suits my photographic needs. Of course, the Canon mirrorless camera line attracts me. But I've yet to see a visible difference between the photographs from a mirrorless camera and a DSLR camera. So I stick with the latter for now.

If anything, I should inventory my existing collection of photography gear and pare it down.

At the same time, my reading of the history of photography informs me that this mode of human expression remains subject to advances in technology. I see three main eras of photography: Pre-film, film, and digital. Film photography has become a niche practice with digital photography dominating the field. Experienced photographers have gone to digital means of photography simply because it affords the photographer far more control over the photographic process.

Meanwhile, some aspects of photography stay the same: composition, exposure, subject, and intention. Together, these four aspects shape photography as an art-form. This generality leaves room for every approach to photography, whichever gear the photographer uses.

I have a D200, D700, Nikon F2, 28 f3.5, 50 f1.4, 105 f2.5(manual focus) revamped for digital use.
Mamiya C330 with 80 f2.8 and 135 f4.5, Rolliecord with 80 f3.5. Also 70-200 f4 nikkor.

I am female, use a Peak Design Slide Lite with my Fujifilm XT-2 and I am quite comfortable wearing it as a crossbody strap. I walked all over Baltimore last summer with it and have hiked all over Pisgah National Park using this strap with no discomfort. I like the fact that it is a quick release strap and I can take the camera off the strap for tripod shots or handheld if I desire.

I agree with WarpedWeaver. I just purchased the Sling version from Peakdesign and it truly is the perfect strap for cross body or over the shoulder. Adjustments are quick and easy. The plate and additional connectors enable you to carry long telephoto very comfortably.

Check Thom Hogan's site he offers a complete download able PDF that is much easier than the Nikon manual

Thanks for the info on the manuals and the need to experiment. I have used I so 100 on my trusty D200 most of the time since I purchased it new I'm June 2008(wish I would have known that my new old D700 was waiting just out of the frame). Anyhow, we have time on our hands to get acquainted.

You can get to ISO 100 by using the extended ISO range that you have discovered. But be aware, that if you are shooting raw, you are overexposing your image by up to one stop at the expense of highlight dynamic range - so it is critically important to avoid overexposing your highlights.

Thank you CHG, Twowindsbear and Gene51 for your responses. If I understand correctly, 1.0=Iso 100, 0.3=Iso 125, and 0.7=I so 160(1/3 stops)?

I just received a D700 from keh in excellent condition. Looking over the menu, I noticed the base I so as 200. Scrolling down, I found these settings: 1.0, 0.3 and 0.7. What are these in relation to I so values? The body did not come with a manual. Can a fellow Nikon user recommend a guide?
Thanks in advance.

I had a Nikon F2, 50 f1.4, 105 f2.5, Mamiya C330, 80 f2.8, 135 f4.5. Honeywell 892 flash. I still have the gear and use it along with my D200 on occasion.

They do not auto focus and they report the aperture to the camera. They also show focus conformation. They work with aperture priority and manual modes. They all have aperture rings also.

I have a question regarding manual focus nikkors: 28mm f3.5, 50mm f1.4 and 105mm f2.5 that I had converted for use on my D200. What is your take on this. I truly enjoy these lenses. Also a salesman at my local store said something about these lenses not being suitable for digital ff sensors. Curious.

This capture brings back memories. I served on the USS Forrestal CVA-59 1967-1970, AIMD and E-Div.
Great shot.

Thanks
