I want to change out the cheap focuser on the AVX scope. I want something with fine tuning like the explore scientific crayford focuser. Anyone swap out one of these? Suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

Beware of Park Ave Cameras, Willoughbys etc. I bought an 850 online that was $500 less than everyone else. I had bought from them before and got a legit camera. So two days after buying it I get a phone call telling e I bought a Chinese model. No where on their advertising, description etc did it say international model or gray market. I was more or less bullied into buying the American version for $500 more - list price from Nikon. I was pressured. Do I got it. And I was given their “warranty” which is in house to fix the camera. I wouldn’t trust them at all. Sorry but I felt really odd about the whole transaction. I won’t buy from them in the future because it was a bait and switch.

I tried it on the moon last night. I can see light but no image. I started with one extension tube out to three. Tried without diagonal Luke your picture. Attempted to focus each time I added an extension.
Then I went with one extension tube, diagonal. Focused in with my 13mm eyepiece. Changed to camera. Nothing. Put my DSLR in and got a great picture. Back to Neximage nothing but light without any object or focus.

I thought these little imagers should have been as easy as an eyepiece.

I might change laptops. I’m desperate. One I’m using is a refurbished that I don’t use and wonder if it’s that.

I have the NexImage 10. I have downloaded the disk sent with the camera. I went on the Celestron site and made sure all the downloads were recent. I cannot get this imager to give me a picture. I see very faint shadows during daylight. I haven’t went out with it at night, because I figured I could get a daytime picture with it. No luck. Any thoughts with this?

I have an Explore Scientific 80mm FDC100 apochromatic refractor on a Sirius EQG mount.

I have booth 200 and 300 lens for my Nikon. Both are easy to hold and I don’t have problems taking pictures when holding them. Both my lens are zoom and telephoto.

Personally I had better results with the 200mm. The 300mm from Nikon was not as great as I expected. I do a lot of nature and ocean mammal photography. Couldn’t use my 2x with the 300. Just never had much success with it. This lens was a kit lens with a D 3400 I received.

If you want to buy the 300mm I’d be happy to sell it. It’s been used a few times. Brand new condition. I can get the specifics for you tomorrow evening if you’d like. I’m on the road today and tomorrow.

I did try Sonny’s suggestions and it didn’t really work. I’ve been trying different things and nothing has been 100%. But I’m going to try this in day light and see what I can do. Keep a log of what works and what isn’t working.

I just got a one inch extension and I’ll try it tomorrow. Will see what comes up. Might have to get some different sizes.

That was my last attempt. I got pictures but they weren’t detailed like I saw in the scope. Scope was so precise and detailed. Put my camera onto eye piece and lost detail but got picture. (Using eye piece).
Tried without diagonal with focuser and 1.5 extension tube. Not enough focus. Blobs. Put in second extension tube and nothing.
Am I feeling like I should consider one of the colored ccd cameras sold? Or keep fighting with my Nikon.

Europa I’m using a explore scientific (ES) ED 80 FDC Refractor scope. I have been using the focuser to the max which is 40 I believe. If I had just a quarter turn more it would seem I’d be in focus when the camera is attached to the focuser. I have had 1.5 inch extension tube on. So I tried the second 1.5 extension tube and nothing wanted to focus with or without the diagonal and eyepiece.
Ivsee th reference time 55 mm and not sure what y’all are referring to. 55mm from end of scope to beginning of diagonal?
I’m trying everything and I can get out of focus pictures of moon or Jupiter and it’s moons.

I have a question for you SonnyE. I got a couple of moon pictures from the telescope but the camera list the detail I saw in the scope. I was talking it through the lens because I cannot get it to focus with just one extender tune on my scope before the diagonal. I tried with two extenders and it didn’t do anything. Tried a bullnose extender on the lens side without lens to no avail as well as an adjustable extender off the camera. I know your using a Nikon. I have the camera on bulb in manual mode. I adjust the shutter speed. Iso at 100. No F stop because no lens on camera. Any ideas?

True it does. I’ll be at Standard all next week so hopefully this fire will go out and when I get home it’ll be clear skies!

Thank you. You’re right. If only I’d get clear skies without smoke from the Briceberg fire I might see something besides the smoky moon.

You’re right. I was getting so frustrated with that hand controller and for $73.00 it is now fun.
The camera is still a challenge but I’m waiting for an adapter from my lens to the T ring and hoping that will solve my other problem. Will see!

I ended up buying an Orion Sirius Eq-g Mount with an explore Scientific ED70 FDC80. I also got a 2 inch variable camera adapter and got pictures last night of Jupiter and it’s moons. This has been a learning curve that’s challenging. Do many variables to work through.

I gave up on the usb cables to attach the SynScan hand controller. What a nightmare. Got the Bluetooth adapter and the app and I’m in love! It’s fast and works! I don’t understand why the send out that HC. Not for me!

Hope to post my pics of Jupiter today. Not the Hubble but it’s mine.
I saw a meteor through the telescope. Pretty cool!

Thank you SonnE. I was hoping you’d answer because I know you have a Nikon. I’ll give it a try tonight. Gotta get a pic of Saturn. Lol.
