While AI is an interesting technology in the world of photos, videos, search engines, advertising, etc. etc., and with a myriad of legal and ethical concerns, it is my belief that there is NO SUCH THING as Artificial Intelligence.

I have used AI to produce strange and weird images, and will likely continue to do so...because it's fun!

Before retirement, I was in the IT field for many decades, and back even in the 2000's, the term and delivery of AI was in its infancy. It was the belief then, as now, that AI is produced by humans, humans writing computer programs, and as such takes on the characteristics and leanings of its authors/developers. A computer cannot think, it is just a series of 0's and 1's, created by some human, with a myriad of IF-THEN-ELSE logic. A computer cannot have emotions. When an AI deliverer want his program to react in a certain way, he programs it that way...it is a reflection of the developer. Such it is with AI that has permeated the world today.

While the term and delivery of AI is here to stay, we should always remember that in using AI, we are catering to the whims of the developer(s). We should not assign "intelligence" to a machine that can have no intelligence.

Please excuse my rant....but I'm really getting fed up with some people (okay...more than some) can't seem to contribute anything helpful. Maybe that's why I like coming to the UHH. For the most part everyone is as helpful as they can and when it warrants or in Chit Chat..funny.

While we were in the moving process and after we moved to Florida I was in some groups about moving to Florida. I put up with the negativity then because I was looking for information. Now that we've moved I'm there to help those looking to move to Florida. Unfortunately, there are a number of nabobs of negativity who have to complain about how bad they have it in Florida, be it traffic, the heat, bugs, or whatever. Then telling people not to move to Florida for whatever reason they have.

I've already left a few of them because of this....but it still frustrates me. Yeah...I know I'm old and this is what the inter webs has become.

Selective Service Draft number 64-1971. Calling through number 250 then 125 through 1972. Called January 1972 inducted 27 Jan 1972. Opted for USAF.
Basic at Lackland.
Tech school Kessler AFB, MS-radar operations.
First assignment-Fortuna ND. Girl behind every tree- no trees there. 12 June 1972-18 Sep 1972. Air Defense Command.
Then to Malmstrom AFB, MT. Cold and snowy. Arrived 24 Sep 1972. Departed 17 Dec 1972. Air Defense Command.
Then to Udorn RTAFB, Thailand. Everything smelled bad. I thought the stagnant air, as evidenced by the cook fire smoke rising about 100 feet then spreading out, was 40 years old! Ended up enjoying myself and my new Minolta. Stayed three years- 22 Dec 1972-26 Dec 1975. Pacific Air Forces.
Then to Holloman AFB, N.M. Mobile radar. New radar arrived-I signed for it-AN/TPS-43E number 2516. Arrived 16 Jan 1976. AF was switching payroll systems and locations and centralizing it all at Denver CO. Went without pay for three months. Left 20 Oct 1978. Tactical Air Command.
Then to Grafenwoer AIN, GE. Arrived 29 Oct 1978. Operations building was an asbestos-sided 12’x20’ shack. No electricity or running water. Used mobile generators in garrison. Used Yukon heaters in the buildings. Many alerts and field deployments. Army used to laugh at us and threaten to take our girls because we were in the field so often. Did a tour in Saudi Arabia -Very hot. Purchased Minolta X-700 camera, 70-210 lens, Sony TV and VCR while there dirt cheap. Left 11-24-1983. AAFCE.
Then to Calumet AFS, MI. Da UP hey! Long Range radar. Arrived 11-30-1983. Crappy place terrible people all living together in this outpost in the woods. My wife and I loved the place. Left 28 May 1987. Tactical Air Command.
Then to McChord AFB, WA. Arrived 12 July 1987. North American Air Defense. System Manager for the Northwest quarter of the US. Bought our first house. Left 14 July 1990 for CFB North Bay, ON. Nice nature but bitterly cold winters. Our last winter there- 1993-1994 saw 87 days where the high temperature did not rise above -40F. Punched out in May 1994 as an E-7 and went to school. Went from two credited courses to a Masters degree in three years and nine months! Went to school every month of the year.
Retired June 2013.

I now enjoy photography and eating.

I often see and read posts about the discrepancies of results between different camera makes with different lenses on each and the resultant differences of the images. Why wouldn't there be differences? If one wants to get the same results in photographs from two cameras, why not use the same make and model camera with a lens made specifically for that camera brand? My thoughts are that for consistency in IQ, color, and resolution Use the same brand of cameras with the same brand of lens on each. We all apparently agree that one camera is going to have a slightly different color and quality than another make or even model. That's why we each have our preferred brand and model of camera. We also all have different preferences in post processing (if used) to adjust our final version of our photos. Just my thoughts and musings.
