Using Capture One 20 on a Windows 10 laptop, all raw images are on an external 2 TB hard drive which is nearing maximum capacity.
What is the best method to transfer all images to a new 3 TB hard drive?
Can I do everything within Capture One 20 and if so how please, or should I clone or mirror the 2 TB hard drive to the new 3 TB in windows 10 then use the saved catalogue?
Using a cloud service is not practical as where I live the internet can be unstable.

Your advice is appreciated,
Thanks!

Just copy the old drive to the new one and after that, make sure the new drive gets the same drive letter in windows as the old one. All will work as expected.

Yes. It has arrived and has also already be called back. Because of problems. And although the new Sony has not been called back, it has the same problems.

I use it for years and it's a very good photo application. One of the best. Fast, intuitive and free.

The only one with layers? You must be joking. I use layers all the time in capture one.

Like many said, the Samsung software works flawlessly. Macrium Reflect (free edition) also does the job perfectly. No need to buy anything.

Never seen this problem and I'm using CO for years. Let us know what the problem was.

Dual card slots are a must??? I don't see it. That's the last criterium I would use to make a decision. I've got a D200, D5000, D500, D610, D850. None of them have ever had more than one card installed. And never needed.

Yes! Dual cards are a MUST. Just for safety sake. If you don't mind a card malfunction and loosing all your photos, one card is fine. However, the 7xxx series pretents to be a semi-pro camera. Having only one card slot is definitely not professional (nor safe)

Capture One is a fairly expensive option. You could try Dark Table for free or Affinity Photo for around $US50. It is on special at the moment so would be very cheap and no subscription.

OP has a Sony camera. Capture One has a special version for Sony for free and the full version is way cheaper than the non Sony (or Fuji) version.

Word of advice: never delete your RAW files. You'll come to regret it in the future. Delete everything else that's easy to replicate. And use a good DAM.

The best you can get right now is the Fuji X-100V.

Wow - hard to believe I have to explain this...

wide aperture means shallow depth of field - the effect I was shooting for (pun intended). So while I have plenty of ND filters for other uses, in this case they are of no use.

The filter would bring the shutter speed down. It would not change your aperture (DoF) if your shooting manual or in aperture mode.

Well, genius, the electronic shutter in the X-T3 can go as fast as 1/35,000th of a second. And "slow down" is not an option on a f=bright day when using a very wide aperture (like f1.2 in this case)

So, oh clever boy, understand reality.

Time to buy some ND filters? 😉

...it would be helpful, if you desire to be believable, to cite verifiable instances of "...cases in which a card (or the index) was damaged..." directly because of using the delete function in any given camera. I cull shots regularly, have been for the decade and a half I've been shooting digital. If I couldn't trust all my XQD cards because of *somebody* just saying so on the internet, well, lol, maybe I need to just buy new ones. Fat chance! Anecdotal is just that...I want some scientific information.

Why don't you do just a quick Google search on this issue? There's plenty of information on why it's a bad idea to delete photos in camera.

DO NOT erase images from your memory card in your camera! Your camera is awesome at taking photos, but it is not very smart at managing the data on your memory card. Deleting individual images from the card using your camera is a great way to scramble the FAT Table. DON'T DO IT!

Just an example quote. There are many many more. In short: your camera is not designed to handle filesystems in a trustful way.
