I agree on the RRS ball heads, they are wonderful, but I like the lever tripods (Manfroto) for ease of use.
No need to hate snakes. Great shot! Can you do something to blur out the glass in background?

I agree with the other manufacturer recommendations. But, I use a Benro carbon fiber that is light and packs flat for travel - it is a great tripod.
