D7000. I owned 4 of them before I went to full frame, and all my lenses stayed compatible when I moved up.

I'm a canon man. I've had a 7D, now gone full frame. My buddy has a D7000. Even though we are both useless, his lousy shots just seemed to have a better dynamic range.
Did I just say the Nikon is better? (For that comparison only)

Make it 2-1. I would go for the D7000.

Well I have a 60D and was looking to add two additional bodies for my business, my son has a D3100 and 28-300 VR Nikkor, and wanted to join me, I seriously considered the 7D for a month, then looked at the D7000 for two weeks and bought two and the Sigma 150-500 to compliment the 120-400 on my 60D, the D7000 wins in every way over the 7d except for the buffer and that is minimal.

The D7000 is streets ahead.

I don't want full frame so you have my reply.

D7000 if you want a DX. you will eventually want a FF so why not just get a D600(orD800)?
