Purchased a 200-500 lens when I couldn't' get a 500mm f5.6 PF lens. The 200-500 is an excellent lens, but has not been on my camera once since I got the 500 5.6 PF. Just a real
pleasure to use, takes great images.

Since I have acquired the 500mm PF lens, it has seldom been off my D850. It makes carrying and hand-holding shooting so much easier. It takes sharp images, autofocus work very well and I heartily recommend this lens. I also have the 200-500 lens, but it will get increasingly limited use.

I have a D850 and Z6 (use the adapter and my Nikon lenses). Am trying to like the Z6, but keep going back to my 850. I love this camera! The biggest weight savings for me was acquiring the 500 PF 5.6 lens. I photograph mostly wildlife (backyard variety this year), so perhaps this isn't relevant to your situation. I am 88.

A truly exceptional lens, especially considering the price. Wonderful images, but don't get rid of your 200-500 zoom lens.

D. Attenborough's documentary is excellent. His newest one is amazing how he shows what global warming has done.
I was in Costa Rica a few years ago. I had the amazing opportunity to photograph some of the beautiful hummingbirds there. I was with a photographer friend who lives there.

You can check it out on my website. Comments welcome and I would love guests to sign my guest book.

Your photos are just stunning. Makes me want to leave for CR immediately! Oh yeah,
Covid.

I am 88 yo. I use the Nikon 200-500 with both my D850 and Z6. I have never had it on a tripod (I do have a Gimble). I have used it mostly for bird photos, especially hummingbirds. They are not the easiest thing in the world to photograph. Covid keeps me in my backyard. All handheld. Be not afraid!

Have a D850 and a Z6. Autofocus with 850 is far superior! Maybe the difference is in lack of any cross-type sensors inZ6. Still trying to use Z6, but disappointed so far.

I was in a similar situation. I opted for the Z6 (better low light ISO capability). I have used the Z6 with my Nikon 27-70 and 200-500 lenses with excellent results. I really like this little camera.

Have an Epson R3000 printer. Use mostly RR UltraPro Satin 4.0. Prints are much better than other papers I've tried. The caveat, calibrate monitor, download profile for paper and printer you are using.

A UHH member mentioned in the past that Apple was coming out with a new 15" laptop. Anyone have any idea when that will happen?

Use manual aperture, SS, and auto ISO for urban wildlife. My experience is that if I capture maximum information (exposing to the right), I almost never have a noise problem that can't easily taken care of with LR.

The 850 is way up to the task for pics of birds in flight. The question mark is the person holding the 850. This is an awesome camera. I know at 87 I would probably be better off with a mirrorless body, but just can't give up the 850!

I'll give it another try, by phone. Thanks.

After spending most of an afternoon trying to get into an Adobe chat room, finally arousing someone, waiting 10 minutes between questions and responses, I finally get an answer to my question,"why can't I import images from a memory card into LR". The answer, "this is a known problem we are working to fix". C'mon man! No one tried to import image from a memory card into LR during development and beta testing of Catalina? Unbelievable!

You should be suspicious. After nearly falling for such a scam a couple of years ago, I now include locals only.
Cuts down on the possible buyers, but I want to see the person I am selling too. They can send Pay Pal "invoices" saying money has been deposited that are virtually impossible to tell from the real thing.
