The old bridge brought the cotton to the mill. The remains of the mill are the two smoke stacks in the background. The river helped provide power to the mill. This is located in the town of Startex SC.

Great capture! I live in the upstate and recognized it as local immediately. The brick smokestacks were more what said “textile mill” to me than the train trestle did, but both are for sure evocative of that bygone SC textiles era! Now the mills are being turned into trendy loft apartments and doctors’ offices and coffee roasters, etc; a great recycling of buildings, in my opinion!

Just guessing, but is it a lock to keep the lens from creeping/zooming while carrying on the camera?

Some beautiful images in this thread! Here’s an old photo of my daughter (she’s 14 now) enjoying a rare snow here in SC. I dug out the raw file a few days ago to reprocess in Lightroom; I just started using it instead of PSE and have been learning the ropes.

Love these! Light painting was one of the first things I tried when I got a camera that could do slow shutter speeds. So fun.

Commiserating with you because I had the same problem in reverse. I had an XTi and used PS Elements on a 32-bit Windows 7 computer to edit. Just got an 80D and the “same” CR2 files wouldn’t open. I had to buy a new Windows 10 laptop to run newer software that opens my 80D raw files. Argh!
