Yes, actually the most anyone paid for one of my pens was on a fountain pen I made. I don't do this as a business, actually donating the largest majority of my pens to non-profits/charities. I also make wine bottle stoppers, bottle openers, bowls and spindles. In addition I do "standard" woodworking, I made my wife a custom vanity as a few years ago.
This is a pen I made about 17 months ago. The wood is curly maple, probably my favorite, and the hardware is 24k gold. One of my first photos playing with bokeh.
Right now I don't feel I really have anything worth putting up here. Maybe I'll look at some of my pen photos and see if anything is "good enough".
I have been reading the forum for some time, decided I should stick a toe in the water. I like to challenge myself, I started woodworking about 10 years ago, and started with photography about a year ago. The challenge in these hobbies for me is that I am legally blind with an extremely limited field of vision.
I'm a "Canon shooter", and this will never be more than a casual hobby for me, I figure one challenge at a time, and being a "blind hemophiliac playing with power tools" is my first love. I do enjoy reading the conversations and looking at the photos that are posted though, and have used some of the information I have gleaned on here to try to better my skills.
I ordered some wood today from a local source for my other hobby (woodworking), I have a delivery date of May 20th. Two weeks (and about $10.00) when it is a 40 minute drive (or less) from my house to the vendor. Oh, to be able to drive...
Funny you should ask that, I sold a 60D this morning. I've sold a lot of woodworking tools over the years as I built up my shop. I held many items for perspective buyers, only to never see or hear from them again. Now when I list, I advise many buyers that are going to come later that if someone comes to the door with cash, I'm selling it, especially if in initial contact they offer less than I am asking. I have also gone to make a purchase, and been told that it's been sold. Since they took my license 17 years ago (legal blindness), that is very frustrating as I either have to set up a ride or use public transportation. I generally now make my purchases on eBay or from a vendor's website.
