Pat and I have been birding for about 25 years just deciding to start capturing the birds so I'm just sharing a few of the thousands we have taken.
I took these trying to blend in the action of the water, didn't have my tripod so tried it just holding the camera to see what I would get.
Thought I would give the SCN option on the EOS 70D a try and see what results I would get.
Happened to be staying right on Grand Traverse bay and couldn't resist taking a few Michigan sunsets.
I carry an EF 28-135 f/ 3.5 - 5.6 IS USM for a walk around and if I need more distance I attach the 2.0 telephoto extender to get there and it works great.
The Ice Caves form each winter as water seeps though the walls of the Rock River Gorge. Although not "true" caves, they are made up of vertical walls of ice formed the seeping water, making this a great place to explore. These are different each year and fun for the entire family. The Eben Ice Caves are located West of Munising in the Rock River Canyon Wilderness which is part of the Hiawatha National Forest North of Eben Junction. It is situated 25 miles E of Marquette, 15 miles W of Munising. The wilderness is bounded on the east and north by FR-2279, 2276 and 2293. The south and east sides follow section lines. These were taken by my daughter-in-law to be so we are going in March when they will be fully developed and will post later in the year. :D

Just a few Bison pics for Yellowstone National Park. It is my favorite and after 4 visits it continues to call me back.
Hope you enjoy, they were captured over the years starting out with a Nikon point & shoot, then to a Kodak point & shoot. I then advanced to the Canon XT, which was used from the Jane Goodall picture taken be her personal photographer and the otheers that follow, then Canon XSi & now the Canon 70D which no pictures were taken with therefore the National Park is calling me back to see what else I can capture for my memories.
Up Close & personnel

500 Yr old Cyprus Tree on our way to Isle Royal National Park
Pinnacle Head the local Indians would take their canoes to the lake and try to shoot their arrows to the top at 320 feet without success.
Couldn't resist taking these shots & being an avid cyclist I just knew one day they would be a conversation piece on my wall just haven't decided if I want to do them on a canvas or just a matte finish to display them. Then #3 I was at Special Olympics with my Grand Children and saw this photo-op they named it purified pop.
These were taken with a Kodak 12 mp point & shoot because I forgot the camera bag when I left to go to the games they were participating in and used theirs to take the pictures, go figure.

Started out in Fairbanks worked our way down to Anchorage and on to Seward where we picked up the ship to travel to Glacier Bay, Juneau, Skagway, Ice Strait Point, Kamchatka then on to Vancouver BC. I will try to represent what the Last Frontier is really like but I will tell you it is nothing like being there to witness it in person.
All pictures are original no photo processing using either Tv or the Av settings on the camera. Changed ISO setting then the light got low to compensate in hope to capture the picture in the right light.
This is a sampling of the 1890 pictures I kept from the 4500 I took during the 15 day tour/cruise to the Last Frontier. I hope you enjoy them.

Its not a quote it's a fact we honor those who served in all military services in the US
Sarge 69 Col. Jack Jacobs said it best this morning on MSNBC Memorial Day is the day we remember all service members fallen and serving because of the disconnect of our volunteer service to our country. They are protecting the 320 million in this country for our freedom therefore all need to be thought of and thanked. I am a veteran of Vietnam and appreciate the thank you when it is given.
Its the birding season what else you you expect at this time of the year. Good for those bird lovers.
