Splendid tour and photos, Mel. Did not know they were such a nomadic tribe.

This time of year my wife misses the birds. This was meant for me send a text to her at work showing they have left for warmer climates...and a bird comes out of nowhere. Guess he didn't know he was uninvited. Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed it, Joe.

Great shot Chance, I almost missed the Song Sparrow. Does that Slinky think really work?

When I first put it up, it was new to the squirrels and was fun to watch them slide down and have a fit, but only works for the little ones and chipmunks now. Squirrels have a Macguyver gene to get around almost any obstacle. Appreciate the visit, Jack.

Very enlightening series and images, Mel. With all the adornment significance and symbolism, I wondered if you were able to learn how these items are acquired; self-adorned, from different sources, gifted, earned, meant (in some cases) to restrict their behavior or interests ?

Gary, this looked so good in the post I knew I would be nauseated if I saw the download. But I had to look, and it made me think that must be the stuff of nightmares that make someone like Wes Craven good as a horror movie director. I'm not gonna look at it again, but damn that was good work.

There is an oddly pleasant interest with a symbolic anonymity of these poles. Maybe Prairie Whac-a-mole?

Two excellent images. Love the composition of #1. The sky looks like it is extending its arms out to embrace the tree giving it more significance and character. For me, at that moment, the sky called for that placement. Well done.

Shows how real beauty is everlasting. Can't imagine 90% of contemporary models will ever come close to such recognition. Nice share.

Excellent choice for B&W, John. Barn fits well in a stark, desolate setting.

Both images are nice. The first image is more impactful from the start. The subject is up front and closer in combination with the strong contrast of colors and depth in the landscape. The second image comes across as a flatter rendering with everything seeming distant.

The forecast called for the first snowfall this morning. I went out to get a picture of the feeder itself. Just as I released the shutter this kind sole dropped in to be included. He was only there for a fraction of a second. Would not have gotten this if I hadn't left the shutter on a two second timer setting from my previous use of the camera. Sometimes its better to be lucky.

Very nice opening set, Mel. The Maasai are one of the more interesting cultures with their heritage and transition amidst challenges. Looking forward to this series.
