This Old House.....
Driving across Kansas on rt 36 on a frosty early morning. Just before dawn I passed this old farmhouse and had to whip around to take a few shots. As I had recently purchased an HDR program I did three shot bursts at one stop intervals to see what I could do with the program. My aim was to get the farmhouse as true to what I was seeing as possible. That slightly exaggerated the sky but not too much. The Great Plains can really do a show with sunrise/sunset scenes without much help.
No 1 was using the HDR program.
No 2 was minimally processed using PhotoNinja and GIMP.
What do you think?
i like the sky better in #2 but I like the closer framing of the first shot. Good plan to turn around
It really does look more natural. I need to work on color balances on the reds.
I think it is more striking and approximates the actual colors. I will work on the set and see if I can get a more balanced look. Thanks.
Both are really nice but the first one is my favorite.
Both are great shots. If you came through St Joseph, Missouri on 36, you should've tooted your horn at me. When travel 36, you are on one of the old time National Highways such as Route 66 or the Lincoln Highway. You were on the PPOO route, or the Pikes Peak Ocean to Ocean highway.

Both are great, I like the first image best.
Was the HDR from one image? and converted with the program?
