Has anyone ever produced a really good pancake lens? It seems all the ones I've ever seen just rate ok, not excellent. I would like to have a very good copy of one of these to do street photography with. In the z system, even the 50mm looks like a short telephoto and is more lens than I would like to show when doing discrete shooting.

I’m not familiar with the Nikon version of a 50mm pancake but the Canon version is no where close to excellent. This should be an opportunity to improve what they currently have.

The other alternative is to have no lens on the camera and a body cover. As for being discreet, that is the best alternative. Just saying….?

Many professionals don't seek help because they are afraid that they could lose their jobs…….

I understand but a person with any illness MUST seek help. If an employer attempts to terminate, that employer can be brought before the EEOC and the DHR for wrongful termination.
The medical staff are bound by patient confidentially NOT to disclose any medical information with regards to their patient.

Many may feel embarrassed by their medical condition, but it is not a shameful set of circumstances. The completion of suicide can be prevented. We could still be laughing with Robin Williams and enjoying the musical gift of Brad Delp had they were here.

We all have a responsibility to help someone in need and is in less fortunate a situation than ourselves. I chose to stop this thread before I am dragged up the stairs by my ankles to The Attic.

Actually, I got more than my money’s worth. My wife has put up with 40 years worth of shenanigans! I couldn’t have asked for better!!

…….offers a picture of the menu for $24……

Are you kidding me? I think I would have rocks in my head. That is ridiculous!

In that case, you must buy your food in person but before you enter the restaurant you must pay $5 (in quarters) to open the restaurant door.

My father, may he rest in peace, said all too many times, “There is no free lunch!”

So when ever I get a pop-up, ordering me to get a free download, I look in my wallet and see there is no money.
I delete the advertisement and move on!!

Please stop being condescending. Just ignore, say or write nothing and move on.

Keep well those who do not fit this profile.

I have experienced this in our forum. I do not associate with these trolls and gnomes. I do IGNORE them. If there are those whose thoughts align with yours, send them an email and call occasionally. It makes a better friendship.

A short while ago, many Hoggers felt that one was abrasive, acerbic and his humor was far too adult for many children here on UHH. We email all the time, call occasionally and send packages to each other across the Pond.
As For Me, he is a lovely man, has a beautiful wife kids and grandchildren.

Just remember, the internet has bred anonymity and rudeness.

By The Way, I am made from sterner stuff.

Long before I joined Ugly Hedge Hog, I met a lovely photographer. Her name was Bettie Ringma. She was very insightful and shared a great deal with me. I was just a new kid working and she imparted great techniques. Her patience and warmth was a guiding feature to the landscape of our friendship. I once asked her birthday to give her a nice present. She told me, her age doesn’t matter as long as she here doing and teaching photography to us youngsters.

It is a sad shame that many people suffer in silence. While a person with a heart or other organ issue will seek professional help, those with a mental health issue suffer in silence. If a person were to have some form of brain cancer they would seek medical attention. If a person were to have schizophrenia or other mental health conditions, they are more likely to suffer in silence.
Many people who are depressed will be told by others to “snap out of it!” I wonder if a person who is deaf would be told to “listen harder!”

In actuality, those who suffer mental health illnesses, suffer from embarrassment. Many other people who listen to a person having an issue tune it out or are inherently lazy and don’t know how to seek mental health attention.

Not everyone can resolve issues other than a psychiatrist. While as medically advanced as we become we are still in the dark ages when it refers to a psychiatric disorder. Help someone get the medical attention they need!

Don’t wait until September to be Suicide Prevention Month. Do it today and help someone and save their life!

By The Way, Jerry you see what you started!

I always check B&H for anything photographic or electronic…….

I love B&H. My wife won’t let me go alone. I guess she is afraid that I will buy everything I see. So once or twice a month she lets me order stuff on line.

It’s not the same though. I like to fondle stuff and drool on all the neat stuff I can buy.

I may just retire and work in B&H.

And don't stand too close to the edge of the platform…..

I’m extremely vigilant. After all I was a Scoutmaster. My wife worries when I work or stay out late with my camera. I do not have my face buried in the cell phone. It is sad that NYC gets a bad rap. I’m sure CHG_CANON can tell stories about Chicago and Cook County. Personally I don’t believe any of the hype. As for handling the day to day I do fine. For years I was a pharmacist working in a prison. Never ever had a problem with the inmates while I was handing out medications.
“Ya can’t scare me! I have 3 teenaged children” They are ‘growed’ up!

Now I’m a pharmacist at Bellevue Hospital. Plenty of work to make most people sweat. But if you want to come to NYC for vacation and photos, it’s an awesome venue.

PS. Thanks for the kind words from all and Happy Birthdays

The easiest way to negotiate the subways is to do what I do. I walk from car to car pretending to beg money. Most New Yorkers pretend they are sleeping. If you are adventurous, pretend to play a flute or a guitar. Since I have no talent, people cover their ears and leave me alone.
