I live north of Cincinnati and belong to some nature/birding groups that cover that area. Spring Grove Cemetery is lovely all year, but particularly in the fall and you can take your time driving through. Stop in the main office and get a map. Also Mount Airy Park, which has a very nice arboretum, and Ault Park, which has an overlook, and Eden Park would be good places to photo fall foliage. Hope you have a great trip!
Wow, that is some sunset - great capture!
Wonderful! Love the outstretched neck to show off the lovely black patch on the neck with the various warm neutral shades. I'm in SW Ohio and they must be around, though I've yet to see one. Particularly love the first photo - super detail. Great captures!
And all we grandparents go a
www. Sweet shot. ("clean the frig" goes on to today's list.....)
I've been a birder in Ohio for almost 3 years and have only seen one on 3 occasions. Love the composition and detail - great shot!
That is gorgeous! Quite an experience getting that shot; glad you did not get hurt or lose equipment, but what a result :)
They are common in SW Ohio, but you are correct in that they are tiny and move constantly and difficult to get clear shots of. One of my favorites. Lovely photos!
Excellent photos! I live in southwest Ohio and started birding about 3 years ago. I can't tell you what a thrill it is to me to find a shorebird around here. There was a pair of Avocets just yesterday sighted, but when I went this morning, they sadly had moved on. I think your photos are excellent examples of the many different species and what makes them such great subjects! Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you so much for your reply! I have looked at that mirrorless and think they are, ideally, the way to go - if money is not an object lol. But I will file your reply away in my "dream" folder ;)
Hi there, Love your photos! I currently use a bridge camera-mostly for birding (nikon p900). Since I have not used a dslr and the endless variety of lenses (it seems), would you share what you shot these with? And did you use the same lens for each photo?
I ask because I am investigating different dslrs and what I would like to shoot. The P900 is great for birding and casual posts on FBook, but I'd like to get better/clearer shots for perhaps macro (flowers/rocks/butterflies) or landscape shots. Which, as I read, are two different types of lenses.
Only if you have time to respond. I see many good photos posted here, but not as many that make me go "wow!".
Thank you! (Many photos I've seen published here have a Download link beneath them.) I can save it, however.
I like to get out and take wildlife/bird photos, but I have been thinking on expanding my horizons and found these very appealing. Don't think my Nikon P900 is really the best camera for this, but will try. (Perhaps a dslr or mirrorless in my future? ;)
Love the photos! (not able to download)
