In Idaho Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls (Niagara falls 0f the West) where you can also see the Perrine Bridge over the Snake River Gorge. If you have time drive a little North thru Ketchum and Sun Valley up to the Sawtooth mountains and Redfish Lake near Stanley. Also there is Craters of the Moon National Monument in the same area. Continuing out West you'll pass by Malad Gorge State Park with several interesting waterfalls. This is part of a series of State Parks including Thousand Springs which has waterfalls (many) coming directly out of the sides of mountains. I lived in Idaho for several years and never ran out of things to see or do.

The best the Dell can do is 16 GB RAM I'll try that. The laptop is dedicated to Lightroom so nothing else is running in the background. Photoshop has the same issue with some panos.

This issue has to do with all previous versions of Lightroom including the current version on Windows 10 running on a Dell Laptop I7 8 GB ram 2 TB SSD (I know the laptop is underpowered but I can't afford a newer one yet) . I have 15 images shot on a tripod with 1/3 to 1/2 overlap. The preview works just fine but I get a merge error in the main processing. This doesn't happen all of the time but about 2% of the time. Sometimes I can fix the problem by first making a pano out of images 1 thru 9 and then a second pano of images 7 thru 15 then merging the 2 panos into a single image. Sometimes that doesn't work either but it always works in the preview. I guess the question would be why it works great in the preview and then fails in the main processing? Has anyone else encountered this issue and if so is there a reason it happens?

Once again my UHH family I come to you for suggestions. My wife and I will be returning to Wyoming starting on September 9th through the 15th to enjoy and photograph my passion, wildlife and landscapes. We will spend the first of three weeks in Gardiner and would love any photography suggestions. We spent the last two trips in Jackson Hole where we will end our three week trip. Just a side note, I'll be taking a D500 and a D850 with a nikkor 200-500mm 5.6, a nikkor 24-70mm 2.8 as my primary lenses with a small assortment of primes. Thank you in advance for your recommendations/suggestions.
Once again my UHH family I come to you for suggest... (show quote)

I lived in Yellowstone for the entire summer and here are several suggestions. First for photos of wolves you'll probably need a longer lens (I use a 2x extender to get 1200 mm). You can usually see them early morning or late afternoon in either Hayden or Lamar valleys. When they're around so are a lot of people. You can usually see elk in the Mammoth area. I've seen a lot of bears between Mammoth and Norris and in Lamar valley. Lamar valley also has Antelope. Driving over Dunraven pass you can find bighorn sheep. Other than that bison are all over and hope you get some great shots!

It is a very interesting area and great images. I only live a few hours away from there and have driven many of the roads in the bottom of the canyons (very rough and reqiure 4 wheel drive) Tirvia fact, from Dead Horse Point when you look down at the horseshoe bend in the Colorado river the final scene in the movie "Thelma and Louise" was filmed there.

I have a Dell Laritude E6430 wihich is an older Dell laptop, with 8 GB ram, a 2 TB hard disk, an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3340M CPU @ 2.70GHz processor and Windows 10. While sometimes it's a little slow it does run P & L just fine. I suspect it may be a driver issue on your system so you may want to investigate updating drivers first.

I live only 2 hours away from both parks so I go there quite often. Several years ago I worked there (yellowstone) for the summer season (May thru September). I was there 3 weeks ago and the wildlife, other than Elk and Buffalo, was not there. The place to see the best is in Lamar valley but it's closed to traffic. I spent 3 hours in Hayden valley and saw one Buffalo and a few Canadian Geese. You can almost always see Elk in Mammoth. Last year in September the Bears had already started hibernating. I always carry lenses from 16 to 600mm plus a 2x extender but theh last time I used the 600 was in Lamar last year. It's still a great place to visit and you'll shoot 100's of images, I currently have over 8000 in Yellowstone and over 2000 in the Tetons. Enjoy and research where you want to go and what you want to see before you leave. Final thought, when I worked there I pulled my RV out of there on September 25th with 4" of snow on the ground and in a blizzard so be weather aware.

I've carried a Tamron 150-600 into Yellowstone everytime I go (I live just over 2 hours away). I've never used it. I have images of virtually every animal shot at 300mm or less. Last year I only saw one bear and that one was in a cave starting to hibernate (with it's head stiking out of the opening). This year even the Elk seem sparce and unless you want to wait for hours in Hayden valley, wolves are hard to see. The best place is Lamar valley but that's closed due to the past flooding. Buffalo you can shoot with a 16 mm lens as they usually walk within a few feet of your car. The best place to see Elk is in Mammoth as they just walk around the "town" if that's what you want to call it. I failed to mention that I lived and worked in Yellowstone for the summer season several years ago and at that time I only had lenses from 35 to 300 mm and shot almost every animal (except beaver). I bought the 150-600 to do exactly what you are thinking of doing. I still carry it but have not found a reason to use it in that park or the Tetons. I have used it in other areas such as Olympic N.P. for long distance (lighthouses) shots and birds both on the ground and in flight but that's about it.

Don't even consider a Chromebook. While they're cheap, they come with either a Celeron or Pentium processor 4 GB RAM and typically a 64 0r 128 GB hard disk. They're basically for school kids or people that don't do anything but surf the internet! From my experience (as a computer design consultant for a major manufacturer) refurbished units (those done by the manufacturer) are as good as or better than new and about 1/3rd the price.

I recently purchased a Sevenoak SK-MSP01 which is a 1 or 2 camera vest with a side holster. I used it when I went hiking in Arches and Canyonlands and it was the best purchase I have made. I only used it for one camera but it could be used with 2. I basically hung the camera from around my mid-chest and when wanted to take an image I easily picked the camera up and shot. The camera hangs lens down. I agree I wouldnt hang a long lens from the side holster.

I lived in my RV and worked for Ruby's Inn for a whole spring - summer season and spent a lot of time exploring the area. Even with getting off work at 4 PM and going exploring every other day I never did see everything in the area. Sunset Point in B.C. is a good stop. You can see a noted park feature (Thor's Hammer) right from the rim. It's right where the trail starts down into the canyon. If you decide to go down into the canyon, carry plenty of water. Virtually every week someone was carried out of the canyon dehydrated. Weather is also very unpredictable every month. Nearby there is Kodachrome Basin state park (beautiful), Devils Garden and Grosvenors Arch (the highest natural arch in Utah) in Grand Starcase Escalante national monument. Driving into B.C. you go thru Red Canyon which in itself is a wonder. From Ruby's Inn you are slightly more than a hour away from the East entrance to Zion. There is a lot to see on that side but be aware that sometimes there is a very long delay to drive thru the tunnel to the West side of the park. You are also just over 3 hours from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. If you want to go the other direction you are about 2 hours away from Capital Reef National Park. Like I said I spent 6 months there and never saw everything so pick and choose. One last thing about B.C. if you drive up North on the canyon road, after the Natural Bridge the formations are less spectacular but still interesting. Hope this helps.

I lived in Palos Heights for many years and spent a lot of time just walking around the lake. At that time, once a year, they opened up the lake for fishing (catch and release) as I don't thing anyone would want to eat the fish from that lake (LOL). It really is a beautiful area with lots of wildlife.
