It's close to $25/year to join the website. Most of the other major contests have an entree fee per image. The FB page is free and anyone can enter images for free. I was awarded for best of week and month several times before paying anything to the website. It is basically a juried contest page and site. IMHO the folks who do the work have an artistic style and standard that is quite good. Each week, month and year they produce an online collection of fine images. As for the possible stealing of art or other info, I have seen no evidence of such over the course of a couple of years. For the size of the project it seems to me that a few bucks per year is a bargain. There are plenty of free options in the world. I have not seen one that is its equal qualitatively. Some do not want to compete and some only for free: Your choice.

You could be right? I do not remember going through this process before. I am far from tech savvy, so I am always concerned about updates. If this is just a normal procedure, then I will just follow the instructions, hopefully. Thanks.

Adobe is forcing a new catalog update. Does anyone know if it is working smoothly. Are there likely to be problems? I do not have time to fix it now, if the download goes wrong. Anyone know what to expect?

Turn the dial to P, take Professional photographs. Where's the complication in that? There are really very few exposure modes that warrant the fears we have of them.

I agree. I dabbled with photography in the 1970's. When I decided a few years ago with an interest in capturing bird images, I bought a Canon point and shoot put it on "P" and took some satisfying photos. After a year or so I bought a Nikon D750 w/500mm zoom. At this point I had enough experience to relearn the the exposure triangle and switch to "M". Over time my photos improved and the larger sensor and superior lens made that possible.

I went on a birding trip with Cotinga Tours. They were great. Ask for Paco as guide, he is the best in country and one of the best in the world. https://www.cotingatours.com

Thank you. This is the best NR explanation that I have read to date. I find it difficult to match DeNoise A1 results with either LR or PS, although I know some folks are good at it.

I use a 500PF on a Nikon D500, a crop body. It replaced a 200 - 500 zoom. The big advantages are weight and quick accurate focusing. IQ may be a bit better. The loss of zoom can be a disadvantage in some circumstances. It does not focus as close as the 200 - 500. I handhold most of the time. I am very happy with the 500PF. I kept the 200 - 500 zoom for BIF. When shooting big BIF, I find that I am too close to get the entire bird in the frame. So, I zoom down to expand the visible frame.

I own a microscope sales and service company. If we must go inside your lens to repair, it is going to cost you for the reasons mentioned above. In the service department we only have time, knowledge and experience to sell.
