thanks Thomas. I completely agree with your views on objectification and my use of "sexy" may have prompted that observation. That might have been sloppy language use on my part, certainly I don't intend that for my daughter. However (and I believe this would be her view too) seeking an alluring image need not include objectification, but I suppose this conversation is straying from the UHH purpose.
As to your other point about the vivid green, I'm not sure if I agree but I am going to try that. It definitely helps to have more eyes on a photo to understand how it impacts people! Thanks very much for your careful comments.

thanks. The music project is a new album in development by the woman in the picture. She's searching for shots that capture the mood of some of her songs to use in future market releases. I'm not sure what she thinks of these, but in fact I was looking for the very thing you said "mysterious and sexy". We'll see if she finds them that way, or if they match her music. For full disclosure, she is my daughter which means I might not get the hard critique from her that I hope to hear from this group.

This young woman's lipstick matched her blouse so closely I knew I had to take her photo :-) This was a wedding on the Nile River.

I completely agree with Stardust. We've lived in Egypt for a year and find the people wonderful, friendly, helpful and about as great as you can imagine. I don't know about Jordan. Street photos in Cairo are easy but I do always ask people if I'm doing something that is close and definitely includes them in the photo, it's just like i'd do in the US. In the villages people are even more friendly, if that's possible. There are more people who are shy about cameras but still there are plenty who are happy to share their culture and world with you. My only caution is that it's always best to ask whenever there's a question. As my wife (who is also a photographer) always says as she's going up to some person on the street "what's the worst that can happen? they'll just say no and we'll go look for other scenes"
As for safety, again Stardust is right. This is a very safe place, morning-noon-night. I'm never nervous.
good luck and have fun!
