I have several hobbies, I like to keep somewhat busy in my retirement.
One of those involves a 75 gallon freshwater aquarium I set up about six years ago. I learned (through study) how to make it work with a minimum of work. It's been up for the whole six years, and all I need to do for it is change 25% of the water each month, change the filter materiel every three months, and feed the fish. That's it. No die-offs, no ick, nothing but happy fish. Yes, I get frustrated when people see it and bemoan the fact that their water is green, their fish die within a month, they have no idea of the chemistry of their water, and buy the cheapest food they can. They wonder why my water is crystal clear, I have no algae, and my fish only die of old age.
Guns. Wow, there's a hobby! Learn not only how to shoot effectively, but understand interior and exterior ballistics, why there are different bullets for different tasks, the various laws involved (being in Arizona, there aren't many outside the Federal laws), and then decide to be a Second Amendment advocate and learn the truth about "gun violence", and be presented with the willful ignorance of the gun grabbers. Now that's frustration!
But photography? Interestingly, I understand that not everyone will want to put in the effort many of us have to understand the interplay of ISO, aperture, and shutter speed; what effect aperture will have on DOF; what a histogram even is.
Frustration is different for everyone. Different things will bring out that frustration. When I go to the botanical gardens and see people taking pics of a flower with their camera phone, I understand that that's what they have, and they simply don't see the need for something better. That's not frustrating for me, maybe because it doesn't impact me at all.
Different bullets for different targets, so to speak.
In a way, I understand your frustration. br I have... (

Big Bill, if I'm ever in AZ, I'm gonna look you up and buy you a beer. I like your attitude.
