We expect about 2-3 ft of snow today... very quick storm. Please tell me what your experience is with time lapse showing the build up of snow over about 4 hours. Have T6i, intervalometer, tripod, non-auto WB, manual focus, fixed exposure, will use Movie Maker/Win10 to make video... need details like:
* interval for each shot (1/min?)
* total # of shots (500?)
* no guess-work please, just practical experience.

thanks,

A couple of weeks ago we broke local records her in New Mexico with 26 inches over night. I'm kicking myself for not setting up my camera and doing a time laps of my back porch!

Yes, I understand... I saw a couple of time-lapse videos of the recent NYC storm... very dramatic stuff... I hope that this works.

Is there a max on the number of shots, or max hours with the intervalometer?

If your weather source has estimated the expected hours if snow fall, you can calculate an estimated time per inch. Look at your scene and estimate the amount of snow fall that would be noticeable. Will there be wind which could screw up what is noticeable. Post your masterpiece, please.

Good idea... I'll make those guesstimations... yes, lots of wind with this one.

From looking on Amazon at the Neewer intervalometers the norm looks to be 99 hours, 59 minutes, 59 seconds.

Yup... that's the max interval... and this intervalometer has an unlimited # of shots... I guess determined only by the batteries in the instrument and the camera.

How big is your card? Are you going to shoot raw(cr2) or.jpg?

shooting jpg into a very large card. I would have shot jpg/raw, but the PP software I have can do batch editing of jpgs, so I'll stay with jpg...

Then battery life will be the only limit if the storm is very long. Since you can't predict the storm length go with 8 minutes between shots, and hope you don't need a flash.

thanks... I'll give that a try at the leading edge of the storm... then review the results and make any changes that seem necessary.
