I can’t imagine the anguish you are feeling. There are federal programs out there to help. If you set up a GoFundMe page I for one would help. Best of luck.

So glad you feel like shooting again, it is healing. I like the pop the black background gives it. Nice work, I have never tried to do that.

I also purchased a Surface Pro and honestly don’t need both.

Just wondering. I purchased the 9.7 before the 10.25 came out & love it. My son uses his 10.25 instead of a laptop now for much of his business. That is a great price you are offering.

Hi all. My wife and I are going to Hawaii in a month. Kauai, Hawaii, and Oahu. This will not be a 'beach vacation'. Our plan is to see the sites and unique places that are Hawaii. Most will be accessible by short/very short walk/hike from car. No sunrise this trip. I do not want to take all of my equipment. So, based on your experience which lenses (two max I think) do you suggest? D810, 70-200 f4 VR, 24-70 f2.8, 16-35 f4, 50 f1.8, TC 20 III. I plan to do a helicopter in Kauai. If I can, should this be the 70-200? No tripod this trip. (Taking everything is not an option.)
Your suggestions will be appreciated.

I live on the Big Island. I use an 18x200 as my walk around lens. I take copters often on my island and Kauai and need the 18 for many of the shots. If you can, get a Lens with that type range & you only need one. Never heard of a copter not letting someone take a big camera unless they didn’t have a neck strap on it.
On the Big Island Paradise helicopters is the only one to do doors off. Great company & worth it. Flying now that the eruption is paused (or over) you can get really low and close. That wide angle is needed. If you mainly are interested in the eruptions paths & waterfalls fly from Hilo. Private message me & I will share a fixed wing I have found & fly now on my island.
Enjoy your trip it is a fascinating place & each island is very different. So glad you are coming to my island, it is a treasure most people don’t discover.
Aloha

I'm going to forward the email another user sent to me that
walked me right through it. Please remember, PSE 14 is a
slightly older version, so I'm not sure if it does everything
the newer versions do.

Thank you so much. I will let you know how it goes. Aloha

One hog mentioned smaller prints and which printers not to use. I only print 8 1/2 x 11 or smaller myself. I have had a Canon MG7520 for several years and it prints very well. Not bad on ink usage either. I do use only Canon's inks however. Hope this helps others like me who don't print their own larger prints.

Now that you've taken those great images and does the best editing that you can do what do you do with the images?

We have 2 digital photo frames mounted on the wall in our living room and have images running on those constantly. Last several years we have had different trips running on each one. It is a wonderful way to enjoy those memories by us and friends who stop by. Not very expensive either.

A Canon battery sells for a great deal more than other simular batteries with strange names. I have bought clones for very low prices but they stick inside the camera when I want to charge the battery; I have to pluck at it with my finger tips trying to dislodge it, even used a stronger tooth pick to help. I don't have much experience using clones -- does anyone out there not have this problem with the Canon Rebels' T1i/500D? If you use clones which ones would you recommend to buy? I'm tired of picking out the battery from my camera. Thanks in advance.

I shoot Canon and find the Canon batteries last longer and hold a charge better. I no longer buy off brands. Aloha

I will be leaving out of ChristChurch New Zealand. This first trip will be about 8 weeks or so. I will go back in October.

Fabulous, mine was a month with 48 on a Russian ice breaker and the most amazing trip I have ever done. Be prepared for very rough seas. You must be going in mid Jan through mid March, the only time the seas can be navigated in that area because of ice. Look for Arneaux beak whales, very rare to see. I am one of the few that saw them and with pic of the beak out of the water.
Take 2 bodies and about 4 batteries. An 18-250 and several back up lens. I took a small camera too for times too tough hiking to handle the big one. I only ever needed 3 batteries but was glad to have the spare.
Want more info, let me know, we can private message. I am so excited for you.
Aloha

I was told years ago to bring one that doesn't have a battery in it. It will freeze. At the time they suggested bringing a mimiya 2x3 camera because there was no battery in it.

Carry extra batteries in your inside pockets to keep them warm. I wore 2 parkas, the camera stayed strap around my neck inside the one till I was ready to shoot. This kept me and the camera warmer.
