Does anyone have an answer as to why the focus points on the D850 do not light up in RED as does the D5 and all other Nikon DSLR's that I have owned? Here is what Nikon recommends: In the Custom Setting of the D850 you can select to have the focus point always illuminate which shows a red color upon engaging in AF., but does remain Black mainly. Custom Settings/Auto Focus/a12 Focus point options//focus point illumination/ON. I have done this and it is really a problem to me in that the focus point is hard to find when it is black. Is this a problem to any of you that have a D850? Is there anything that can help with this problem?

Thanks, Butch

I know this doesn't help now, but you need to add your photography equipment to your home owners policy. The equipment needs to be listed on your "Inland Marine Policy". The next time you drop your camera your insurance will replace the item, if you have it listed properly.

The Data Color Spider works really well for me. The color of my prints is a perfect match to my monitor. Data Color has several new products and I am sure the new products are even better.

I have used Photoshop and Lightroom for many years, at this point in time I would never switch? Occasionally, I have used On1 and find it to be okay, but Photoshop is my "go too" software for photography.

Have you thought about using a Platypod. A Playtypod may be what you need. Here is the link to their website: https://platypod.com/

By all means take advantage of the 20% discount. SmugMug is great. Their tech support is the best in the business. Many times I have contacted their tech support and have had an answer in less the five minutes. Their tech support is available 24 hours a day. They will even go into your site and correct mistakes. I have used SmugMug for over five years and am extremely happy with the site.

You can go find many YouTube videos on how to set up your SmugMug site. SmugMug is the greatest!

I have always used a LCD protector and was fortunate to have one on my Nikon D5. One time when using my camera I apparently hit something, because when I looked at the screen the protector was cracked and not the LCD screen. I would highly recommend the protector, it is not that expensive and for me it worked.

In the perfect world use a shutter speed of 1/1000 or 1/2000, f2.8 lens setting, and a high ISO. I always shoot sports in Aperture Priority using Auto ISO. If that is not available, you can get away with a shutter speed of 1/500 and the fastest f stop and ISO your camera will allow. If you can get the subject moving toward you, you can get away with a slower shutter speed. Also, if the photos are a little dark you can fix it in Photoshop, in other words deliberately underexpose using a faster shutter speed knowing that you are going to make corrections in Photoshop. Practice and you can get in right. Also, Jared Polin has an excellent U tube video on how to shoot moving subjects and sports when you have limitations with your camera.

The person that recommended putting your cameras on your home owners policy is “right on”. I have had several cameras repaired and my insurance pays for the repairs. Talk to your insurance agent and have your camera equipment listed on a “inland marine policy”.

The 850 should be new enough that it should still be under warranty. Call Nikon and send it in. It will take a while, but they will get it fixed.

There are two Epson printers that would work well for you. The Epson P800 or the Epson P5000. Both printers really work great. If you are worried about service you can purchase Epson's service contract. If you have an issue Epson will replace the printer. I have the P5000 and it does a beautiful job.

I would seriously consider purchasing the 70-200 f2.8. It is a workhorse lens and of all of the lenses I own it is my "go too" lens for most everything I shoot. The second choice would be the 24-70 f2.8. Congratulations on purchasing the D850!

It takes a while to get used to using the "back button" to focus, but once mastered it is the only way to shoot. I am a sports photographer and several years ago I was shooting with my "new" D3 and I was having problems with focusing, I ask a fellow photographer for advice and he told me to use the back focus button. It was great advice. I have been using it ever since.
