Buying Used Lens from Adorama

Wanting to buy a used/reconditioned Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro Lens for my Nikon D7200.

Other than on Ebay, I only find this lens used on Adorama. I have purchased used from KEH in the past and was very pleased in the purchase (I believe their used ratings are conservative and what I received was better than expected).

Adorama rating on this available lens (only one available) is “Excellent Minus” which is described as: “Shows signs of moderate wear and/or usage. Unit body may have surface scratches.”

The price is $419 as compared to $569 new.

Any UHH folk here who have purchased used lenses from Adorama and can share their “quality confidence” in their ratings? I am all for saving money, but also want to be happy. I know there is a decent return policy, so that helps if I am not pleased. Just not sure my trust is as high as it is with KEH (based only on never having dealt with them on used equipment).

Also, EBay pricing on this lens model (used) is higher than the Adorama price. Don’t know if that means anything.

I have had good luck purchasing cameral gear from Adorama, new/refurbished and used. They stand by what they sell.

For the difference of $150, I would buy it new or consider this one used:

I have bought lenses from Japan with great success.

Have boughtboth new and revonditioned from Adorama. Got a Nikon 5100, looked brand new, not a scratch. Also a couple lenses. Perfect.

When stuff is sent for factory reconditioning, it has to be as good as brand new. I worked for a bit in a manufacturers reconditioning place. Reconditioning cell phone bodies. One tiny speck of dust or grease spot, a tiny chip, scratch, anything... you get it back, start over. Another team had done the insides. (Phone part) And yes, they double check that the memory is wiped. Amazing how much porn is on phones.

I trust Adorama completely. Been purchasing from them for years. Purchased a used D3s rated as 9 and could not find one flaw on the camera. They tend to be conservative on their ratings.

Sorry I meant excellent. B&H uses the number system to rate their equipment. To repeat, the D3s was from Adorama.

Ebay is a little "iffy". A lot depends on the particular vendor. I just purchased a lens in "perfect condition". It came to me well packed but broken. I just returned it and am awaiting a credit.
