It's a very intelligent thing to be afraid of THIS GOVERNMENT!

Depending on your light, I'd go ISO400 Shutter speed priority @ 1/1000. You should get good results.
I would shoot in aperature priority with an ISO of 400 and let the camera take care of the shutter speed. f5.6 is my guess. Tried shooting them at Oceana NAS some years ago on an Olympus OM-10 with ASA-400 and didn't have much luck. Now in the digital age you should due just fine.
I'm not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer, but why would you? I keep thinking "Camera shake=loss of sharpness......need to lug a tripod w/ me"

I did spit my coffee over this one! Funny to the MAX!!!
As for the Lions in front of the Art Museum, walk halfway accross Michagan Ave. to the center island. Your safe from traffic and it's a great spot to shoot from. Then turn left 90 deg., and look north up Michagan Ave. for a great "Street shot".
I'm a 60+ year Cubs fan who says no trip to Chicago is complete without a shot of Wrigley Field's marque (sp?)and the statue's of Harry Carey (Hall of fame announcer) and Ron Santo (Hall of Fame 3rd baseman!!
GO CUBS GO!! There's always next year!
You are absolutly right about pictures of the Grandchildren! Mine are all adults now and it is great to pull out the "kiddie" shots of them!
I have to agree with the gang, #2 is my favorite! Both have great lighting ratios.

Ahhhh the abuse we go through. There are two mothers to watch out for in photography mother of the child (little saint) and the mother of the bride.
Amen! ...... but what about the mother of the model?
#2 all the way! When I look at #1 I get the feeling that the eagle has had most of it's beak amputated, much like not cropping a person at a joint.
What mystery you have surrounded her in!!!

Look at who yhe first responders were to the tragic tornado;s of the last two days! The police/firefighters-Rescue/EMS personnel of this nation are Hero's! God bless and protect them all.
My brother Jim served a year in Viet Nam (Army) and received the Purple Heart. My brother Ed served a year in Viet Nam (Navy) at DaNang. I served 23 years in the Navy. When you get done shooting up in the tower here are a few classic shots to get:
The lions in front of the Art Museum. Shoot from the medium on Michegan Ave. and then turn left (north) for a GREAT street scene looking down the Avenue!
The fasade of Wrigley Field, home of my Cubs!!
The Old Water Tower (survived the Great Chicago Fire)
The Dinosours in the Field Museum
The fantastic displays at the Adler Planeterium
