Hello everyone, I have been following Nikon for over 30 years, my last one is the D 850. Looking at the images on television, and on some examples of those made with the Fuji GFX 100(S), I found that there was a "depth", a layering of the shots, which I did not see with my (or my) Nikon... I just bought myself a GFX 100S, 32/64 and 120 macro (all used) and I can assure you that I am not disappointed, moreover, I believe that the colors are also reproduced more faithfully, and the rise in ISO very well managed. I have no regrets, I am in a learning period.

And maybe one you've had on your list, too. Given the active itinerary and travel arrangements, I decided to go smartphone-only. I have an Apple iPhone 14 Pro and sometimes enhance it with a XenvoPro wide-angle/macro lens. Posted also in the smartphone subforum.

This is Machu Picchu. My wife and I wanted to vacation there when we married in 1973. She got pregnant and the doctor forbade her from travel that distance and altitude. We never made it. But, here I am, fifty years later, now solo, fulfilling a dream.

I have two Sony camera's, one has BBF (back button focus, you see, I explain BBF, unlike you, for those that do not know, it is always a courtesy few employ here, I digress) and on the other I use the regular shutter button, I see no advantage to either, I get award winning shots with both camera's.
If you know what your doing, I see no advantage with BBF.
The image below was taken with a traditional shutter button.

MAGNIFIQUE !

I don’t recall reading forum discussions about the differences in perceived sharpness between full frame cameras having pixel-count between 20 and about 24 MP and those with pixel-count above 40 MP. I’m specifically interested in learning from the users of the high pixel-count cameras how much of an improvement in the perceived sharpness you may have noted in your cameras’ images compared to the lower pixel-count versions. I’m thinking about the non-processed, SOOC perceived image sharpness comparisons. Thank you, and Happy Holidays!

Amicalement, Denis

Hi, the 24-105 is enough for me.
I would avoid carrying two bodies, and put what I carry with me in a shoulder bag, so that I don't attract covetousness but am ready quickly.
Avoid places where the crowd is very compact, but also avoid being alone on a bridge in the middle of the night.
I'm French, I love Paris at night, but I wait for an opportunity to be 3 or 4 to take out the camera equipment, I think that's caution!
Open your eyes, look up, it's a fabulous city, and at night go along the Seine looking at the inside of the lighted apartments...
I wish you a wonderful stay, gastronomic too, take a guide book for the addresses!
And don't forget that the most beautiful images will be those that will remain engraved in your memory, that you will share when you return, and that you will make even more beautiful each time you talk about it.
Sincerely, Denis

I just bought the Sigma Art 24-105 f/4 lens from B&H, which will probably be used most often on my a99ii since I don't have any other ff lenses of that range. A filter and a USB dock will come with it (but the dock is on back-order) and the lens had an instant rebate form Sigma that ends tomorrow just before midnight. My 17-50 2/8 on the ff body reduces MP to 18, rather than the 42 if I didn't use the crop lens. My other lenses are a SP 70-300, a 150-600g2 and a 105 macro. I also own an a77 so I can get an extra 50% range with either of the lenses. I haven't tried CIZ on the a99ii yet. I've only had it for a few months, but I wasn't particularly impressed with the quality on the APS-C body when I tried to use it to shoot eagles at the Missouri/Mississippi river confluence north of STL a couple years ago. I've seen a few videos of landscape photographers using the 24-105 and at appears to be a very useful range. I'm not ready to switch to mirrorless yet.

I am thinking about a small P&S/Bridge/4/3/Mirrorless, with good low light capabilities and 20MP or so, And would like some suggestions, on both the event and possible cameras/ budget 2000 for the camera.
Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions.I will want to make prints when I get home up to 16x20

Amicalement, Denis

Thank you for your answer, that is indeed what is happening.
It’s a real pathway to improvement in the development that isn’t talked about enough, and many of us will certainly reframe without redoing the development....
