Nice
I was there this am. Still beautiful. Used my new A6400 with 550210 lens and sometimes used the clear image zoom. Working on photos now.

Sunrise is better as the Jefferson Memorial is shown off. Also if you get there early, you mat find parking. It is extremely difficult to park around there. Walk the entire basin, starting from the boathouse

I did this migration about two months ago before I upgraded to Mojave. This was at the suggestion of an Apple rep who specializes in Aperture, iPhoto and Photos. All projects were there but I believe I had to click under the iPhotos header to see all projects. Seems Photos has improved a little since it first appeared

I had Yosemite but had to upgrade because of Turbo Tax you can’t use Premier with the earlier OS systems. So at some point upgrades may be forced. Interestingly I did not see Aperture on my 32 bit list when I ran a system check.

It does work with Mojave. I worked with an Aperture specialist when I upgraded and still have his contact info. I have a tremendous catalog that I still wanted access to. It does not support newer files as upgrades were discontinued. I can still edit but finally migrated to LR and PSE. Aperture has the best organization of a catalog to date though. The Apple specialist also had me back up to Photos which does not have a great catalog system.

Good luck,

I have a 27" Retina iMac running High Sierra with a 27" Thunderbolt display as a second screen which I find great when editing in Aperture. I use the Thunderbolt display as the workspace with the 5K iMac displaying the shot, with edits, full screen. I normally shoot jpegs having no desire to do much editing other than a bit of levelling/cropping. Technically competent I set all my cameras to A so I can control my DOF if I so wish and have no problems with exposure or focus. RAW is totally not needed for me as I normally only display to family or friends usually on the iMac or sometimes on a 40" TV.
My problem is that my iMac keeps wanting to upgrade to Mojave and I know Aperture will not run on Mojave so I have to keep blocking it. Sooner or later though I will probably have to accept the upgrade and I'm wondering if any Hoggers know of a program which will allow the use of a 2nd screen when editing. I haven't been able to get Photos to do it so thats out (- I don't like it at all anyway so I don't mind!). I don't want to go the Adobe subscription route and I'm reluctant to shell out my hard earned cash on a program not knowing if it'll allow the 2nd screen. (I'm retired - what I've got is all I'll get!) Cheers JohnR

It was suggested to me that the Panasonic ZS70S is one of the best travel cameras.
Are there any other suggestions?

Zs 70K is much better. Same price. It is my travel camera but extremely sharp I sometimes just take it with me as my solo camera.

So I just upgraded my OS on my Mac, been using MACS since 2010. Love them. Time machine is an awesome tool for back up if USED CORRECTLY.
I had a few discussions with Apple before upgrading to Mojave.
1.Designate ONE back up drive for your entire Mac and external drives. Everything can be restored fromTime Machine. Very cool feature. One day I deleted an email everywhere so I just went into time machine from 10 minutes before and restored that email. I cannot express how magical this feature is.
2. Get an external drive for Lightroom especially if you shoot RAW. My Mac at 1 tb is 3/4 full already which includes a second library of JPEG uploads I sell.
3. Back ups from Time Machine are not backed up a second time so the above is giving you two locations for files...original and back up.
4. I have 8 tb for my back ups which equal my Mac and my photo library external drive. My photo library is 2 TB and as I said my Mac is 1 TB.
5. When back ups is full, That happened with my 4 TB back up drive, it deletes the oldest back up. So in my case it was deleting a back up from 2010, to be clear it was NOT deleting files only a back up. I still have that back up plugged in but it only has a history of back ups before my recent purchase of a new drive.

Let me know if you need any additional info.
If you buy a drive that is not Mac formatted, look up on Mac forum how to reformat-very simple.
I use Western Digital Elements. Had good luck with it.
My first back up with the drive for just 3 TB was over 24 hrs. Preparing back up took over half of that.

The ZS70 is a phenomenal camera. Amazing shots. Here are a few photos from this camera.

While I'd love to get the RX10IV, it's way beyond my budget, unfortunately. I have been looking at the RX100VI, though. It's also pricey, but is it worth it? I balance that idea with the Panasonic Lumix ZS100 or 200. Unfortunately, there seems to be quite a number of instances of failures with the ZS series. If I knew the small sensor of the ZS70 produced very good images, that could be a contender, given the long zoom range of the lens. The upside of the RX100VI is that it has Sony's Clear Image Zoom feature, which effectively doubles the zoom range with almost no loss of IQ. I believe the Lumix has an equivalent of that, too.

My other thought could be to pick up the Sony 18-135 or 18-200 lens and take my A6300, but my initial thought was to keep things simple and take a camera that I can just carry in my pocket. We have time, and will likely go later in the year, so there's no rush. If I get a camera now, though, I'll have all spring and summer to learn it. I appreciate all the replies.

DCZS70 LUMIX is my second camera. It is everything you asked for and it takes amazingly sharp photos even at 720 mm. I love it. How about a Pentax K70? I think it is the lightest Pentax DSLR. I got it to review, and it takes sharp photos, is weather resistant and has some cool in camera features for creativity, plus it is also fully manual.

I live in the area. Bring a tripod. Shoot the monuments at night. Especially the Capitol reflecting pool and Korean War Memorial. If you get out at sunrise, shoot the Jefferson Memorial from across the Tidal Basin.
