In our knockout work everything is done on middle gray, luminosity masks are used for final masking, no worries about inside/outside, or what color anything is, eliminates your bleed/wash contamination along with that what on earth went wrong in this image statement.

Vincent Versace, from Oz to Kansas is a good starting reference, BW conversion methods are not a one size fits all type of process, they are based on image evaluation, as in extractions the methods have to match the image, but most folks would probably tell you I get wonderful results using quick selection tool in conjunction with select and mask, and so goes BW conversions, good luck on your journey of discovery!

We have used savage papers for years, standards based on image required are 70-12 storm gray, 66-1253 pure white, and 20-1253 black, have fun!

Middle grey, use white and drop your background slightly out of your lighting and you have middle grey, use black and move your background slightly into your lighting and you have middle grey, purchase middle grey and you still have light to middle grey, easy to use your camera meter to center up exposure, even lighting no matter the color is the key, middle grey lets you use blend modes to drop the grey out

The .psb is just a container if you will that has extended file size capabilities, we always save non flattened projects due to client revisions, the output sizing is determined by end product or application, which would be the flattened image.

We do some large items, files typically run 14625/10055 777MB flattened for 16/11 ft (crazy duplication input), currently they are working an auto for glass panels which is a 19.63GB .psb, no Lightroom in our production stream.

Gene is correct, before starting the process we throw in a luminosity check layer and a curves layer adjusted to maximize shadow area to be removed, then as fast as you can paint it in or out in your case it’s done, this is also an example of the perfect tablet application.

Quick fix, you have a shadow problem with possible color shift induced, it’s a 5 or 6 step process that goes fast in Ps, google how to remove shadows.

anhydrous is what you’re looking for in an clean alcohol, 99.9, however it takes time to evaporate, generally use for scrubbing purposes but probably have to use it carefully in this application

We use the full product line in a commercial setting which makes bridge the only choice, cross platform viewing, multiple users in set disciplines, Ai Ae Pr Ps Id and such, I do encounter lots of folks in individual or husband/wife type of small photography businesses which have no need for these and function with Lr and Ps, your process is what’s important and does the software support that.
