I had the nikon 18-200 lens and it's no comparison to these kit lenses. The 18-200 is heavier than these two lenses combined, it suffers distortion where neither z lens has distortion and are much sharper, and the effective range is greater 24-375mm compared to 28-300mm.
They are so small and light that you don't need a bag, you can just slip one in a pocket. I don't know anything about the 24-200z but I was thinking about it for the same reason that you mentioned.
