In camera file naming is fully explained in the manual, so this answer is correct if limited.

And I really didn't see anything more useful in your answer

Really, folks! I'm sure 99%+ of the questions on this forum could be answered by a manual or reference someplace if one took the time to do the research! Give the person a break, either answer the question or "lurk" and ignore it!

This is a forum for learning and helping each other!

(by the way, the little 4" x 5" manual that comes with cameras is not the easiest thing to do research in . . . certainly heard comments about these "manuals" before!)

Why thank you kind sir for those words of wisdom. You are indeed a gentleman. (I assume you were referring to the shutter! :D )

By the way, what "lie" are you referring to. I am not used to being called a liar. :-(

Guess you didn't read the rest of that thread -- one lone example and thousands of people using the lug for their strap! :)

Just another way to attach a strap to the tripod socket. And an expensive way at that. A cameras tripod socket was never designed to carry a camera's weight hanging from it so you take full responsibility for damages that occur from doing so.

This keep coming up -- recently I started a thread asking for any concrete examples of this -- none came up! Perhaps with Nikon now selling these straps e-v-e-n-y-u-a-l-l-y this tale of broken cameras from the lug being used for straps may go away (however I wouldn't hang a long lens on a plastic body with the lug! :) )

I received an e-mail this morning from Adorama stating they were shipping my product . . . the problem was the product was ordered on January 15 of 2012 and I already received it.

I called Adorama this morning and they said they are having problems with their computer system!

Guess I won't be receiving that backup Canon EOS 5D Mark III! Bummer :)

When in doubt, read the manual!

After reading the manual if it still doesn't work, try following it! :)

Has anyone experienced products from Canvas People and what is their quality level? They run some great specials occasionally.

Many thanks for the link. Somehow I missed that one when I did my initial search. I see where many favor the OpTech brand as it does not rely on the tripod mount for securing the camera.
Cheers,
Lee

I recently read a thread on this forum about using the tripod mount -- heard all the dire threats about this messing up your camera -- Reality, no one had a personal incident about their camera being messed up by securing with the tripod mount -- one incident that has been round and round the internet about a Nikon composite (plastic) body that had a problem.

Fact is, Nikon is selling a camera strap that connects to the tripod mount!

I love my Black Rapid strap!!

REALLY! ! ! ! Shame on you!

I know a lot of teachers who chose that route because of their dedication to helping people --- instead of making a log of money. Where did you get your education?

A customers camera, he posted this pic all over the internet last year. The bottom of the camera broke off while he was climbing stairs in a parking garage with the camera hanging from a Black Rapid strap.

Wow! I wonder what the "rest of the story" is. Guess I'm glad I have a Canon and one without a composite body! :)

I'm yet to see any "real" compelling evidence. There is a picture of an older Nikon with a broken mount that is circulated frequently to "prove" that tripod mounts can't take it, but other than that I have seen nothing. Even Nikon now recommends Black Rapid designed tripod mount straps for their dSLRs.

Now that was an interesting link -- looks like Nikon is selling a strap that connects to the tripod screw! Are they now "condoning" this practice?
