I use OP/TECH USA camera straps which have a quick connect system. I put the inexpensive system connectors on every piece of equipment that has lugs for a camera strap. I can change the strap connection point from camera to lens in less time than it takes to swap lenses.

We had a total loss house fire many years ago. Everything in the computer that was not metal melted. Miraculously, I was able to boot up the data drive in a new computer and save my files, but ever since then I keep three separate backup drives: one in a removable drive tray in my computer, the second in a fire safe, and the third OFFSITE at my in-laws house. On a periodic basis I rotate them to keep the data current So far, that strategy has prevented a second house fire. :-}

BTW, a fire is not the only physical risk to your data.

Based on personal experience, I would strongly advise using a “tube” style red dot sight rather than an “open” style. My first experiment was with the open style. It worked well against a darker background but following a bird against a bright sky did not. The red dot was barely visible against the sky. Switching to the tub style made a huge difference with dot visibility in all light conditions. Perhaps I did not get a good enough open style sight and there might be some that are more visible against a bright background, but I would try to test it first. For clarification about the two styles to which I referred see:

I have noticed that the Topaz AI programs do not like TIF files that contain an alpha channel. Have you saved a selection in the file you are trying to Sharpen AI.

The Canon 600 F/4.0 with a 1.4 extender will give you an effective focal length of 840 mm with THE SAME F/5.6 F-stop as the Canon 800 mm. It also gives you more flexibility than just the 800.

The image quality of the new Canon Super telephotos with the current version extenders is very good. Here is a link to a recent image of some herons from a long way away with the 800 series II paired up with a 1.4x III. I used a 7DII for this image but I will also use my 5DIV.

Windows 10
Intel Core i7-8700K Coffee Lake 6-Core 3.7 GHz (4.7 GHz Turbo) CPU
64 GB Ram
GeForce STRIX-GTX1060-O6G-GAMING 6GB 192-Bit GDDR5 graphics card
All solid state drives

Sharpen AI processes changes in settings that occur in the 100% view in seconds with Photoshop and Lightroom running in the background. Saving the entire finished file takes maybe a minute.

Try GeoSetter. https://www.geosetter.de/en/main-en/

Its free and fairly robust. I used it for years until I found a LR add-in that made the Lightroom geo-tagging function useful.

The current version of Adobe Lightroom does that very well.
