This is one that I took last week with a friends 800 when I was in California. By accident we discovered Twin Peaks in San Fran and it took my breath away. I recognized it from several commercials. The hardest part I think I'll have is trying to resize them to an uploadable file. What's the best way to do that?

What a hard camera it was to find. On a waiting list for weeks and finally got it Saturday. I played with a friends 800 last week and it felt really good. Can't wait to get mine out and play....after reading the 400+ page manual.

I've used Picasa for years, too, and found my saved pictures ok. What I've always was impressed by the most is when I pull up Picasa, it would find pictures that I didn't know were even still on the computer.

I never shot a wedding, but I have a friend who said his best wedding tool is his Gary Fong flash diffuser

I've got his collapsible and I use it all the times, indoor, outdoor, wedding, portrait...etc. It looks funky on the flash, but it does a pretty good job.

Glad you like it. We are in the mountains of Virginia and we love to travel, so I have quite a few pictures on file. I pretty much always have my camera with me, just in case.

I love that part of the country. I lived in West VA for a few years. One of my favorite things to do in VA (besides visiting DC) is going on the Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah Valley. I recommend that to any scenery photographer.

Ok, I don't think I can help you with that but check out this website. It's David Ziser - Probably one of the top wedding photographers in the country. He has tutorials posted there and I've found them to be helpful.

I was just looking at Zisers videos. I had to bookmark that site. I love how he shows exactly what he's teaching. Thanks for the link!!!

What part of VA are you? My son lives in Marshall and works in DC.

I love fog, too. I hope it's ok if I post one of my favorite fog pictures. I would love to see a whole thread of them. If you prefer, I'll move to another entry.

I hope portraits don't necessarily mean humans...A couple of non-human shots and the last one isn't really a portrait, but it was a fun grab while doing engagement pictures.

I used to manage a Walmart portrait studio and the one hour lab was right next door. I've had to get on them several times about selling copies of our studio prints. To be honest, though, their quality isn't all that bad. They use the exact same equipment that my pro lab uses. Of course you don't have a choice of finish or papers or sizes and they can't do any kind of adjustment, but for a quick test print or whatever, Walmart and Costco both have the same equipment. Their people can leave a lot to be desired sometimes though.

Ok, yours looks good. Did you apply the gaussian blur to a layer? the instructions say to do that but I'm not sure I like it...or maybe I should have reduced it but I did it at 12% like it said. This really is a technique that can be played around with. I hope to see more results and I'm going to try it again.
Thanks Phoneguy
